Well, after several months of being mostly offline to fix up and sell my house in San Jose, and find a nifty new neighborhood, I'm back . . . sorta.

I've relocated to Rio Rancho, NM, but I'm still working on unpacking. Once the unpacking is under control, I can start on converting the 3rd bedroom in the new house into a darkroom. Once that is done, I'll really be back.

Was wondering when you'd show your mug around here again
Welcome back, Ralph.

Next time I'm up that way I'll give you a holler and maybe we can go shootin.

There are some areas west of you that I have always wanted to shoot.

Ralph! Welcome home! :D

I can't seem to move far from you. I might tag along with Mark if he goes your way. I know some people in Bluewater who can take us to interesting places.

A whole bedroom? I was sitting in my favorite spot and thinking one night when I realized this large mater bathroom we have is perfect for a personal darkroom. The linen closet is the exact size I need for the enlarger. Only one very small high up window to the room, which I plan to cover with some dark out vinyl. Print washer in the bathtub, a larger plywood board over the sinks, and I am set.

Crank up the heat ont he salsa we may have to celebrate out new digs.

Yep. Halle Berry won't return my calls, so a 10x10 darkroom is the next best fantasy. All of my previous home darkrooms have been converted bathrooms. As I intend to die in this place, I want to go all out this time.

Thanks to everyone else, too, for the kind remarks. I've missed the intellectual exchange here, but just didn't have the time.

Hey RalPh... Hey RalPh... Heeeeeeyyyyyyyy RalPH!!

Quiet? There were some 22,000 "new" posts when I logged in yesterday, plus 400 more overnight.

Thanks again to everyone for the good wishes.

Welcome back Ralph' I made a similar move about sixteen years ago, but in the same city not to the other side of the country, my sons had grown up and left home and my house was far too big. I've never regretted it, although I found it very stressful, and like you don't want to ever do it again. Enjoy your new home ,and surroundings, I'm sure the photographic possibilitys of Arizona must be very exiting to any keen photographer, I envy you.

Best wishes, Ben.

Heey Ralphy Boy (bet you only heard that about a million times growing up!)

Glad to see you back on APUG. Sorry we lost you in San Jose. Good luck in your new home.

Matt

Thanks again, folks. Living in New Mexico puts me much closer to a number of areas I want to photograph, including some I've done before.

Now that you are there...

Green or Red? Gotta know the answer.

Rancho de Corrales is a good place to start. Rancho de Chimayo is another one. Then try the Guadalopupe Cafe in Santa Fe.

Or hell, just go down to the closest Smiths supermarket and get frozen green chiles in the large tubs.

I is jealous.
