I was surprised and saddened when Herb Ritts died. Knew a lot of similarly gifted people around that time. Saw many of his exquisite prints. Was never drawn to the famous personalities he photographed, was always most interested in his lighting. Similar in some ways to Penn and Avedon.

Comeau's blog (often not to my taste, but sometimes spot on) reminded me of Herb Ritts...that's the reason I posted this thread.

Herb Ritts is one of the greatest portrait photographers of all time.

I've studied his work extensively, and that's why it's time for Herb Ritts: 12 Lessons from a Master Photographer.

You're going to learn 4 ways to harness natural light... and a whole lot more.

Check it out:

If you like it, do me a favor -- share it on Facebook, okay? Thanks!
