Help with Lens please

Does anybody have knowledge of the lens in the upload and help on the shutter would be great as well.

Could it have come off of a copy stand? I've not heard of the lens brand, but the shutter is common, it should fire as you cock it, all in one motion. Put in a cable release and push.

Remember that Rank used to own Taylor, Taylor Hobson, the company who made Cooke lenses. Cooke is of course now a separate company.

I believe that Pullin was the technical branch doing stuff like surveying equipment, gun sights for tanks, and such like. What this lens was for I've no idea! Probably a precision item though?

I suppose we can assume the shutter in original equipment...

Virtually the entire British optical industry was bought up by Rank, who then 'rationalized' and closed down everything not relevent to their core business. Sadly, that didn't include a lot of the sort of optics and photography we would value People in the industry used to call this 'Rank misfortune', or so I've read

I think the 'Rank' name appeared in front of many companies names after the buy outs. So... I suspect it was made by the company R.B.Pullin of Brentwood, Essex UK.

Here's a bit I found on the net:

R. B. Pullin & Co. was founded in 1932 and moved in 1935 to Phoenix works in the Great West Road. The company made electrical equipment and precision instruments in 1948 (fn. 12) and extended the buildings in 1958. (fn. 13) Taken over as part of the industrial division of Rank Precision Industries by 1968, (fn. 14) it had 800 employees in 1972. (fn. 15) It was called Rank Pullin Controls in 1978, when there were 500 employees (fn. 16) and the works also housed a film library and laboratories.
