Does anybody have any experience replacing a shutter in a 501CM body? Should I trash it and buy a new body or replace the shutter? Thanks for any help.

The shutter is in the lens.

If you mean the blinds in the body, and they're not damaged it may not be too expensive to repair.
I'd get in touch with KEH, they seem to be reasonable.

Why do you want to replace the barn door shutters? Are they worn or damaged? Or is the problem that you need to hold your finger on the shutter release longer so that they do not prematurely close at slow shutter speeds?

As others said please give us more info on the actual issue with the (auxiliary) shutter. I would not trash a 501CM because of a damaged shutter. These cameras still have their value and I don´t think the auxiliary shutters are difficult or expensive to repair.

A full service and repair will cost less than buying another 501CM body of unknown condition.

My repair shop is looking into replacing the shutters. I hope this will resolve this. The camera would lock up and he replaced some part. It worked for 5 shots and locked up again. Quite frustrating for such a nice looking 501!.
Thanks for all the input.....I will let you know how it turns out.
