I just got a Polaroid back for my RB67 and am having a terrible time:sad:. First I thought I got it loaded correctly, only for the first black leader to rip down the middle. I popped it back open and pulled enough leader through to get it through the rollers again, but i figured i ruined the first piece of film. as I pulled the leader through, and grabbed the first white tab to pull that piece of film through, I was not expecting there to be so much developer goo. It was everywhere. Is that correct? there was so much goo on the 2nd white tab that i was hardly able to get a grip to pull on it and it eventually ripped. popped it open again and fiddled for about an hour trying to get what was left of the 2nd white leader through without damaging the rest of the film. Now I finally thought I had it put together right (after 5 sheets) and I get a picture that looks like the attached.

I hope someone has some advice for what I am doing wrong (other than everything)

Thanks for looking

You've probably loaded the film incorrectly. The white tabs do not go through the rollers. All You need to do to load the back is place the film pack into the holder and make sure the white tabs are neatly separated and not folded under anything. Then you simply close the back and pull the black leader, which should come straight out with no resistance. While not specific to the Mamiya back, these instructions might be helpful as all Polaroid Type 100 backs load in the same way: http://www.araxfoto.com/manuals/polaroid.pdf

Damn it! Thanks E76. That was what I did wrong. I mistakenly thought i had to feed the first black leader through the rollers myself.

Most people make that mistake the first time! It's too easy, we all just assume it's gotta be more than just closing the back...

They make it so easy on use on how to load the pack, and we always screw it up the first time. It is still cool every time i pull a tab and the print pops out in between the rollers. Its magic.

Ok, I got that figured out, but I now have another idiot question. What sequence do I need to pull the tabs?

is it:
pull white tab - shoot - then pull black tab or

shoot - pull white tab - pull black tab.

I am assuming it's the latter, but I've been wrong before

The latter. Just make sure that you pull the second one quick/smooth and with consistency.

You load the pack, then remove the BIG black tab which is really the 'dark sheet' protecting the film from light. Now, you DON'T PULL ANY MORE TABS. Remove the dark slide from the RB67's Polaroid back. Cock the shutter. Take the picture. Pull the white tab. The film tab should now stick out of the rollers. In as much time as it takes to say 'Polaroid', pull this tab smoothly through the rollers. Read the pack film to see how long to let it develop depending on the temperature or just let it go as it goes to completion if you let it go longer. Cock shutter again, take next picture, pull white tab, pull film tab, repeat up to 10 times!

well, I got a couple shots to work inside, but I did a couple outside, and they were solid black. I am suspecting a light leak but would like to hear from the rest of you. I have the Mamiya Pro SD Polaroid holder that fits onto the back of the camera where the revolving adapter goes. I have not had any trouble with light leaks with any of the regular film backs.

Thanks for all your help!

Considering a light leak, you should expect more or less white pictures. Did you forget the darkslide?

That would have to be darkslide, Or your camera broke. I would go for the first.

So, I've got a few pictures this time and I've attached 2. Both were taken in my yard @ 1/250 and 5.6. As you can see, something is going on here, At least I hope so:sad:

Your Thoughts?

Either the back was not attached properly or there are some light leaks in the back itself...at least that is what I see. I've never shot with a Mamiya, so there could be other things going on.
