Help - Rollei xf 35

I bought myself the Rollei XF 35 because I wanted to have a nice little camera that I could bring with me in my pocket and use as a "snapshot camera". I bought It with an original flash as well. I am working with B/W only.

A couple of issues I hope some of you guys can help me with:

1) The flash doesnt seem to work anymore. I can´t hear the sound that should come as the flash is charging. I tried it off the camera as well, nothing happened, so I gues the problem is within the flash itself. What could course this malfunction? (tried new batt. as well)

2) In the viewfinder I see to things: a little black "arrow" and a red transparent thingie. The arrow is working but the red thing doesnt seem to move around at all. I know these are there for showing me how the camera will expose. BUT I don´t know which is suppose to show the shuttertime and which is suppose to show f.

I don´t know whether it affects the exposure or not but can it be fixed in any way?

3) Where can I find the instructions for this camera? Has someone put it on the internet? Or can some of you explain the basics about this neat little camera?

I also have just found one of these - anyone know how to reset the ASA setting - I don't want to force anything? Mine is now set at ASA 250 and for the life of me I don't see how to get it to change.

My understanding is the F stop and shutter speed are set together by the meter. The arrow points to the setting the camera will use based on the meter reading. The red is a low light warning which I hope is set by changing the ASA setting. The A is for auto, B is for bulb, and the other numbers are for setting flash guide numbers - I have yet to use this with a flash.

Low light warning? mine just shows in the buttom all the time an doesnt change at all.. hmm. well.. THe asa is changed turning the outer part of the lens around. try it.

Which outer part? The outer most part has a white line for the distance mark - it does not seem to move. The second ring has the distance scale and it also seems to stop at the near far distance limits. The inner ring is locked with the silver tab at the bottom for the A B and guide number settings. I must be an idiot for not seeing what to push, pull or turn.

Many, many thanks! I had a UV filter on the lens and never even thought to turn the ring next to the lens. Robert
