Help New to medium format durst 606

I have a Durst 606 enlarger and want to start printing 6x6 and like others want to buy the right lens and board. I see for sale a “Schneider Durst Componar 75mm f/4.5 Enlarging lens w/ 4x4" mount board” the seller does not have any additional information. I was wondering if this would fit my durst 606? If so would it be appropriate for 6x6? I am new to medium format and appreciate the advice.

Can you post a picture of the lens board currently on the enlarger, or a picture of the lens stage, if you don't have a lensboard. If you have a lensboard with no lens, can you measure the diameter of the opening?

Durst gave their lensboards names, and the flat lensboard for the 606 is called "Ixopla"--it is a circular disc with a threaded hole. Durst most commonly used lens mounts of 25mm, while the most common industry mount is 39mm. If your enlarger has a lensboard, and it has a 25mm hole, most likely the Durst lens will fit your enlarger if you remove it from the 4x4 lensboard.

If you can find an Ixopla 39mm, which will be hard to find, you could use many other lenses that are better than the Componar. The best enlarging lenses have 6 elements, and there are some decent 4-element enlarging lenses, but the Componar has 3 elements, so it is a poor choice.

If you can't find an Ixopla 39mm, but have the 25mm version, you can find 25mm Componon lenses on ebay and other sites used. You'll probably have to go to 80mm focal length, but tha t

We here can get quite crazy about the quality of lenses, to my mind up to a point likely not to be visible in practical situations.

But as 6-element lenses are available today for little money, I would look for such lens. However your Componar lens offer might be interesting just for the lens board. If so you might get it for the price of the board and consider the lens as gift to get you started.
