Dear Neil,
I have a similar setup, you have spent enough on a state of the art enlarger, I would stock up on quality enlarging len glass unless you
already have it, as well as negative carriers. Since I file out some of my carriers, it is necessary to purchase 2 but I look on the used market
whenever possible.
a) Never liked the power focus modules on any enlarger, $700 saved
b) System controller, is probably a voltage stabilizer and surge protected outlets with trim pot... $500 saved
c) You are purchasing a new tight system the parallel alignment guage was a necessity when purchasing used equipment
that was riding in the back of a pickup truck over rough roads, if you intend to get the wall mount down the road
then this would be a valuable accessory.
Look at some of the master printers darkroom portraits, simplicity, devoid of black boxes and too many ace$$ories.
You have a fantastic base, girder, platform, condenser head, new flat baseboard new flat neg carriers, there might be
some (very) minor adjustments probably not many though. These units are spec'd and setup at factory, your results after
careful assembly should mimic factory true settings. Do NOT accept any damaged boxes.
Congrats on you bighting the bullet, its a lot of money these days, however that first 16x20 wow print will emphasize that
it was worth every cent!!
Harlequin.
