Hi,

I just received my Yashica-D and I need some help with regards to having it serviced or looked at before I use it. Essentially, I need to know if it is missing any part, if the parts are working properly, etc.

Is there a camera service shop that I can go to?

Michaels Camera House cnr Elizabeth and Lonsdale Street (Service department, 1st floor). The big Michaels family has a truly vast collection of cameras (antique to new, and in every possible format, then some) up on there on 1st floor and the service techs are very knowledgeable. I feel sure they'd know the Yashica inside-out and even have a few on display in the cabinets! Go in and have a look.

and if not them, then the friendly old blokes in the Camera Exchange only 30 metres further West up Lonsdale St.... then there's the Shutter Box in Hartwell - they know a thing or two - replaced the cloth shutter in my Foth Flex, which is rather obscure, and did a beautiful job...

I'll third Shutterbox.

You actually speak to the person who will be pulling your camera apart (if required). About the only place in Melbourne that this still happens at.

I've dealt with them, I just assumed that they only service 35mm camera.
