I plan on shooting some "Memories" or "Samsung" iso 200 .99c store color film and then devoloping it in caffenol C. I've devoloped color film in Hc-110 with some failures and sucess before and was wondering if any of you could give me a few tips for cross processing color in caffenol C. The only thing I hear a lot is to overexpose the film a stop because the dev is speed reducing so I'll be shooting this stuff at 100.

Thanks for any tips in advanced, I've been lurking this place for a while now and finally decided it was time I make an account.

The lack of response to your request indicates that you are probably the resident expert - or soon to become the resident expert - in processing C-41 in coffee.

Please post the results of your experimentation.

I almost always use D-76 for processing C-41 film. Lately I've been using my old nasty black loking Dektol for processing. I like the look of the Dektol more than D-76, as it seems to add more contrast. Keep us advised of your tests with caffenol.

I did some c41 in coffee and washing soda the other day using old vericolour, came up pretty good. You can see it here (http://www.f295.org/Pinholeforum/forum/Blah.pl?m-1262401127/) lines are from the scanner. Just fresh mix and 30 min continuous agitation in the unicolor roller. Have not tried to print yet, just scanned and level adjust, the orange cast on the neg will make it interesting to print to say the least.
I thought the "nol" in caffenol came from the use of Tylenol, perhaps I'm wrong.

From my experience, Caffenol is not a speed dependent developer. I've been using mine at 15 minutes at 70 degrees agitate 3 turns every minute and had pretty good results so far. C41 and B/W comes out the same. I've been using it on some of my found color films that use older processes such as 126 instamatic.

I've even tried color movie film (Vision 3) in it.

how did your experiments go ?
i am probably going to develop most of the color film
i have AND chromog b/w ( read xp2 ) in caf C ...
that stuff is like snake oil and a miracle drug mixed in one

I've developed C-41 in Rodinal, then fixed, bleached and re-developed in colour developer to gain a colour negative. If you develop to something that appears to be a correct or good b&w density in caffenol you can probably get a good colour correctable colour neg out of it by further processing.
