Hi Apug, Was watching a documentary and was curious as to what lens the photographer in it was using. I Was wondering if anyone could identify the lens from some pictures.

Those are just about the clearest shots of the lens in question, Thanks in advance!

Same guess here. And the camera is a Nikon FE2.

From its bulk, and the shape of the (proper-ish?) hood I'd say 35mm f/1.4. Can't help with cam...ooops, coffee just finished

I am officially changing my guess from the 55/2.8 macro to agree with s-a and say its the 35/1.4 too. The rings of knurls on the rubber focusing ring are 4 deep like the 35/1.4 not 3 like the 55/2.8 macro. I also believe I can just make out what looks like 1.4 on the lens in the photo he's taking of the aquarium fish in the second photo. So this one: http://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/35f14ais.htm

my guess is it's a 85mmf/2 or f/1.4

Could be. I think he'd use a different hood though and that second photo would be quite the close up, can the 85 focus that close?

With the ID marking on the outside, the 4-row grip, and the tiny lens hood... 35mm, f/1.4
Also note that he has a protective filter with that "wide-angle" hood.

Cool hat... did anyone guess that yet?

Just looked it up, 0.85 meters or about 2' 9" or so. He's at the close limit for sure if that's the 85. I still vote 35/1.4.

I'd say it's the 35mm/2 AIS. The place looks a lot like a fish market in Thailand.

Download and enlarge photo 2: does that not look like 1.4 on the barrel to you?

This is fun but I'm wondering why the OP didn't just ask the guy.

Bing! Bonus Round!

So, is he shooting at f/1.4, where it's Coma City or f/5.6, where it's Wetzlar, ja, Wetzlar, or F/11, where it's Soligoroid?

The hat looks like something one of my son's friends would buy at Urban Outfitters. (Now, If you want a hat get thee to O'Farrell's, in Santa Fe, and get one besoke.)

The lens is a 35mm F1.4 Nikkor with a Nikon HN-1 hood (a Nikon HN-3 is Nikon's designated hood for this particular lens).

That's Patrick Brown he typically shoots with 2 FM2n bodies, one with a 28mm and one with a 35mm so my guess concurs with the others (35mm f/1.4)

Or could be the 28mm f/2 with filter and HN-2. But the more bulbous focussing ring looks more likely to me to be the 35mm f/1.4.
