I picked up a Graflex RB Series D, yesterday. I shot a bunch of tests shots with it using different exposure combinations (slits and spring tension).

Everything was fine. I got home and dropped the spring tension down from 5 to 1 and now it won't go back up.

The knob spins but the number doesn't move at all.

The focal plane shutter still works

Any ideas what the problem might be?

It doesn't feel like it's winding at all. However, the tension is set properly to whatever it's supposed to be for 1

I tested out a couple shots using the different slit settings and the exposures were pretty accurate. I can't get the the tension to anything higher than ONE so I'm stuck with only 4 shutter speeds at the moment 1/350, 1/110, 1/40, 1/10

The tension knob is attached to the tensioning gear like a rivet. For some reason the tensioning gear is slipping on the tensioning knob.
1. Does the tension step down paw still move correctly?

Knob attach- red arrow - point of slippage.

2. Remove nut in lower left.
3. Remove 4 screws from the tension plate.
4. Put a small slot screwdriver in the tension shaft slot.
5. While holding Tension shaft stationary lift the tension plate off the camera body until the wind gear clears the tension shaft gear.
6. Slowly allow the tension shaft to unwind and count the number of turns it takes for it to zero itself.
7. Solder or bond the knob to gear attach point.
8. With tension setting 1 in the window sit the tension plate onto the tension shaft and camera body.
9. Turn the tension shaft counterclockwise the number of turns recorded in step 6 then lower the tension plate into position. The tension plate should sit flush onto the camera body with 1 showing in the window.
10. Put a 2 screws in the plate diagonally from each other ans snug.
11. Wind tension to 6 then step to 1.
12. Wind curtain to O then release. It should close with the wind key only able to turn in the wind direction only. If it does not close fully or the wind key will still turn opposite the wind arrow increase the initial tension by 1/2 turn increments until both conditions are met with the camera in any position.
13. Install the two remaining screws into the tension plate and install the tension cap nut.
Do Not Overtighten
