Help diagnose problem.

I used my Muji II + out dated Kodak Portra 400vc film to shoot my new ride.All of the shots looked like this.
The camera appears to be fine so could it be the old film (dated 2005) or a fault by the processor?

It almost looks like shutter "capping". This is a 35mm point and shoot?

At a rough guess, yes and yes. The picture seems to lack contrast, despite being on VC film, do the negatives look very thin, because I would suspect under-exposure. That might also cause a blue cast. The example you show was taken in shade, are pictures taken in direct sunshine also blue? Difficult to get a saturated print from an underexposed neg, but the processor should be able to correct most if not all of the blue cast. Has the camera and film been riding around in your car? I presume the cut-off on the right is just because this is the last pic on the roll?

Hi David,
The film was old stock that had been given to my.Not cold stored at all.All the frames had the same cut off apperance.

Furthermore, the cut-off is on the negatives as well and not just the prints?
As far as I am aware, the mju II has a leaf shutter which could not cause partial cut-off. Whatever caused the cutoff let a little light through, because some detail of the garage door is visible at the extreme right. If I had to replicate this fault, I'd stick a piece of tissue paper over a few mm of the film gate at one side (left side) - is it possible there was some foreign matter of this kind in the camera? If the blank strip is on the prints only, of course, then the obstruction would need to have been in the printer.

The prints look like that? It looks like the dyes ran.

I just scanned a few of the negatives and they all look the same.
Do you think it could be the out dated and improperly stored film stock that I shot? The camera seems to be working fine.

If this occurs at every frame, it's not likely to be the film, can you post a scan of a couple of frames? Ideally, in sequence showing the entire section of film.
