I came into possession of a plastic can of AGFA AVIPHOT PAN 200 PE0 AR (= PE zero) aerial reconnaissance film. From what I have been able to discover, the "PE1" variant of this film is fairly common and its use more or less straightforward.

However, the easily obtainable PDF informational file about AVIPHOT films says:

"Aviphot Pan 200 PE0 AR, coated on a 0.06 mm (.0025”) polyester base is designed for LED exposure through the back." (Bold, italics and underscoring mine).

The PDF file is attached should you care to take a look at it.

I haven't the faintest idea what is meant by "LED exposure," although I assume that "through the back" means that the non-emulsion side of the film is supposed to face the lens (correct ????)....

Does anyone know:

a). how to shoot this film, and what, specifically, is meant by "LED exposure through the back"?
b). the best developer/chemistry, development times & temps etc?

I would be very grateful for help with this!

Joseph

If this was me, I'd shoot a short roll at box speed (or possibly plastic can speed) then develop it in whatever general purpose developer I had to hand (D76 or similar, or rodinal) at 20C for 10 minutes, and take it from there.

The reason for offering PEO film is the greater film lenght per spool diameter.

The LED thing refers to data exposure similar to the one used at 35mm cameras.

The AR thing refers to the ommission of some AH, anti-curling etc. layer that might hamper exposure from behind.
