I don't know why I haven't registered before but here I am at last

My name's Ceri - I'm a bloke (it's a Welsh thing) - and got back into photography a few years ago after being diagnosed with MS. Although I work as a software developer I've not thrown my lot in with the digivangelists.

I'm a collector of all things photgraphic (I have a website called Chrome Age Camera which I'm slowly working on to show all my collections), but love using cameras from the fifties and sixties, and try as much as possible to use authentic matrials and techniques.

Favourite cameras include a Prakticamat (very underrated), a pre-war Zeiss Ikoflex II(the behemoth), a Konica Eye (my notebook camera), a Yashica 44 (for superslides) and a Kodak Retinette (for my holiday snaps). At the moment I'm on the lookout for working examples of a Werra and a late model Exakta.

Hello Ceri,
Welcome from the other side of the herring ditch. Interesting camera collection so to see. I am very sure you will like this forum.

Regards
Hans

Thanks everyone - I've only loaded about a third of my collection onto the site so far and there are still 'chunks' missing like my Zeiss Contina/Colora and Edixa rangefinders - I'm trying to balance completing the site and still getting time to take photographs.

Croeso y APUG Ceri.

I have a Praktica BX20 (nowhere near as old as your Prakticamat) which I use occasionally, and yes they are a very under rated brand.

Welcome Ceri from Hawaii!! As a software developer also, you will find there are a number of us here, and we haven't all succumbed to the "digital" world.

Hi Ceri

Your a man after my own heart. Though I use medium format for most of my photography, theres nothing more satisfying than making a fine print from something that you bought on Ebay for under a tenner. Very rewarding.

It proves that it is what the eyes see and not what kit you use!

Welcome

Stoo

Hello Ceri

I am glad to see you have found your way here. Your knowledge, humour and views will be very well appreciated by this friendly community. It is a good place to spend time and the galleries aren't filled with rubbish - apart from mine ;-)

Welcome Ceri from other side of the big pond in Canada. Enjoy your stay, I know I am.

Welcome Ceri from Oklahoma. I also collect cameras but don't use them as much as my medium format Pentax. But I love antique equipement.

Hi Ceri and welcome,

I had often wondered why you had not joined Apug but you are here now and I know you will enjoy it.

Regards,
Peter

Welcome from across the county boarder in West Sussex.
I'm new as well.
Also I have a liking for classic cameras, my pride being a 2.8f rolleiflex and an Exakta IIb.

Welcome from another newly registered member. I think i can understand the digital feeling. I'm a software engineer with 20+ years of experience. At the end of the day, I'm not really interested in sitting in front of another computer trying to be creative. I have nothing against it, I just don't need any more of it.

Welcome from yet another software engineer who finds digital tedious and boring.

Although, I live in Shropshire, I'm a born and bred Hampshire man, and sadly still a big Saints fan

Cheers

Mike
