My name is Richard and I've been taking pictures since a friend of mine introduced it to me back in '98.

I've taken pictures off and on since then. But I really still don't know very much at all. I would greatly appreciate advice and tips you all could provide as I learn more about this classic art form.

I'm starting to process film now and enlarge my prints, but I feel I'm still very behind.

Richard,

Welcome to APUG from NYC. If you find any professionals here, please report them to the proper "authorities"!

We don't want too many of them lurking about at any one time! :D

Richard:

Welcome, from the west coast of Canada.

Actually, there are a lot of professional photographers here, and a lot (like me) who used to be professional or semi-professional photographers.

They tend to be thin-skinned, so feel free to tease them unmercifully .

Welcome aboard

Don't feel that we are all pros here. We are all very intersted and curoius about this thing called photography. We are people just like you. If you want to see the real demogrphic , wade through the what is your profession post - it goes on for many many pages, and shows that there are all sorts who haunt this site.

The definition of a professional is that 50% or more of their income is derived from that activity. An amateur does it "for the love of". What you will find here are many amateurs and "advanced" amateurs.

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome!

Ok, so many of you are not professionals... I will call you "proffamateurs" then!

Well, as the old saying goes: "You can call me anything, just don't call me late for dinner!"

Welcome fellow proffamateur!
