Hi, I'm Lori Vrba. I shoot film exclusively and just finished construction on my first home darkroom 5 months ago. I've been working professionally for about 5 years...but always had a pro lab do my client work while I tinkered with my "own stuff" in community darkrooms.

Setting up my own darkroom has opened my eyes to how much I have to learn. APUG is a great resource.

Professionally I shoot children and families. I think my greatest accomplishment photographically is finally shooting with my own consistent style. My biggest challenge is to not go stale...to keep it fun for myself and still make the clients happy.

anyway...you can see my work at lorivrba.com
wow...it feels good to finally speak up!

Welcome Lori!

You have some very fine portraits there on your site... It's also a very well thought out website design (e.g. the hidden secured clients section) and a joy to explore.

Marco

Thanks Marco. I used a blu domain template...but being techno challenged...it took me an entire summer to complete it.

I appreciate you taking the time to peek.

Hello Lori and welcome to our asylum.
You have some really good work there.
We are all fortunate to have you here.

Welcome Lori...very nice site b-t-w.

Best regards,

Bob

I know the amount of time it takes to setup a website yourself, and to maintain and regularily update it, even when starting out with some sort of template...

I build my website also myself using a probably more rudimentary, yet flexible, approach using JAlbum, Dreamweaver and a custom designed JAlbum template (called skin). Has caused me some headaches, but in the end it was worth it, although it doesn't function as slick as yours in some respects.

Nice work but the screen rez cut the picture menu on the right side and I couldn't figure a way back to the opening menu. 15" monitors stink but it's what I got.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys.

And to Marco...my DH initially tried to put a website together for me with Dreamweaver. He finally waved the white flag. I've been happy with Blu Domain...and I do try to keep it fresh.

ok friendly people...which apug forums are your favorites? do you post images...why or why not? what other photog forums do you cruise?

Welcome to APUG Lori, from the south-west coast of British Columbia, Canada.

You have a great website, with wonderful photos, and interesting text.

As to your questions, I don't know that I have a favorite APUG forum. One of the best things about APUG is that there is all sorts of interests represented here, and I get to learn about and enjoy them, even those who work in areas of photography that I don't now, and probably wont ever work in (such as ULF).

I post images, because I like seeing the images of others and hope others might find mine interesting too. It also greatly expands my opportunity to share my enjoyment of photography with others, many of whom may be half a world away.

I found APUG through photonet, but I hardly ever go there now. If I visit anything else, I probably learned about it here.

Again, welcome.

Matt

Good Evening, Lori,

Welcome from southwestern Illinois, near St. Louis.

Lori, really enjoyed looking at your website. The tutu pictures really touched me. (2 dancing offspring, one now professional.)
I have learned alot since joining APUG. You'll love it here. Welcome!

Lori... Welcome to APUG from western Massachusetts. I took a peek at your website and you're gonna fit in nicely here, right up there with Cheryl, Suzanne and Nicole!! Very nice work.

Lori,
Greetings from the Left Coast, and yes "we need to stop."

ok friendly people...which apug forums are your favorites? do you post images...why or why not? what other photog forums do you cruise?

I'm just here for the food, it's pretty good, sometime it's baklava or bangers and spuds, or meatloaf and an Anchor Steam. It appears from "My Posts" that I frequent the B&W Film thread and get in the most trouble in The Lounge.

Posting? I'm not there yet.

Finding this place was an evolution, from just talking about film on Head-fi.org with linked portfolios on Pbase and Flickr to photo.net and finally getting serious, finding a voice I can listen to at APUG.

Welcome to the group, Lori, from just up the coast. And thanks for subscribing.
