Hi fellow photographers, my name in Henry. I am a young photographer and analogue enthusiast. During the summer I am based in Connecticut and during the academic year I am based in Dublin, Ireland. I started my photography journey when I was 10 years old, when I got my first camera, a little Nikon digital point and shoot. My little camera and I went everywhere together until it died after 5 years of hard use. That's when I got my first DSLR canon and a subscription to photoshop and lightroom. Since then I have gotten into film photography and I currently have a growing collection of 35mm cameras. My love for analogue really started in my senior year of high school, when I did my capstone project on film photography. Since then I have spent time in darkrooms in Ireland and at my university—where I manage the photography society's two darkrooms.

My most recent ambitious project is building my own darkroom in my basement in CT. I have started with my father to help and we have currently framed the counters and tables. I have most of the equipment I need for it but I am always looking. If you want to see how my project is going, I have a little blog going at https://henrysdarkroom.net/category/building-my-darkroom. (Taking suggestions for my website as well).

I am glad to be joining the Photrio community and I hope to learn and share what I have learned!

welcome to Photrio, Henry!

Welcome to Photrio from Japan! I'm very jealous of your darkroom - wish I could have something like that here!

Welcome to the party, full of great people of high intelligence. For the most part:smile:

Hi Henry, I read your blog. Looks like you are having a lot of fun! Which is what it’s all about for me too. It’s nice that the old pro saw his gear going to someone who was going to use and enjoy it. Looks like you scored on a couple of those enlargers- top quality in great condition.

welcome....

where in CT? I was born in NY, just over the ct southern border.... many moons ago. Visit Rye, Playland - a historic amusement park - i grew up 2 blocks away - a wonder, and great for photography - people, places and things!

I live in Roxbury! Kinda the middle of nowhere CT 🤣

Rye Playland - 1 hour south... Lots of photo opportunities! Even if you don't go into the amusement park! Parking is ~$10, all day, lots to do..

Of course you could head west on rt 84 and travel the historic Hudson Valley.
If you go to Rochester again, you might want to visit the grand canyon of the east at Letchworth state park.

Have fun in your darkroom, it's looks wonderful.
