Hiya folks. Just made my account, I returned to film photography during lockdown like so many people, and my thing lately is taking Polaroids with my Sinar F. Cheers!

For some odd reason, I saw the guitar and the lyrics to Roberta Flack's song, Killing me softly with his song and(...strumming my pain with his fingers) came immediately to mind. Kind of a 'trigger pic' for a long ago and fondly recalled 70s song.

I have never seen a Sinar F running Polaroids (or any LF camera for that matter). Are Polaroid packs still available??

The pic in the original post was on the new i-Type using one of the Polaroid backs from Mercury Camera

I did attempt a pack of suuuuper expired 55 film, and while I’m grateful for the experience, barely any images came out and the of the few that did, almost all of them have deteriorated very quickly in the weeks since.

This is my best result from 20 attempts:

Cool - does it work? And - what is it? I'm assuming an amplifier of some kind; maybe a pre-amp, or is that a pair or 6BQ5 output tubes at the bottom?

I believe your crop is highlighting multi-position knobs, but I must sheepishly admit that I’m not sure of the exact function of most of what’s in my props box, but I do know that it is mostly audio related.

This shot is of a tube in a radio receiver of some kind, for instance

No, they are noval sockets.

That's what it looks like from the top. Your photo shows a piece of equipment from the bottom/inside of the chassis. So the crop I posted is looking at the tube sockets from the bottom; the actual tube is on the opposite side and plugs into the socket from above. It's the base section that's shown in the bottom right corner of your photo in post #8.

I’m not sure of the exact function of most of what’s in my props box
OK, gotcha; I was just curious if it was something you used in combination with the guitar.

Once upon a time, I fidgeted with electric guitars and tube amps. Neither endeavor amounted to a lot, although I did manage to generate some noise. I still have an old Rickenbacker bass amp in the shed that I stripped the transistor amp out of and built an EL34 (6CA5)-based PP amp into. That one actually sounded (probably still sounds) quite nice.

Oh right on! I dug this out of my props bin, here’s other angles of the piece in the 55 photo. I’m afraid I was unintentionally misleading, the tube in the i-Type photo is not from the same piece of equipment.

Hopefully now it’s clearer why I would mistake these as solder points for selector knobs, given that they (unlike the other piece) are not already filled with tubes

Oh, I don't blame you for being mistaken about this; it's all stuff, some of it is pretty arcane. My assumption that it must have been some kind of audio amplifier was really just that, too; based on the guitar. Looks like you have a piece of lab equipment there; might be part of a function generator of some kind.

I like your 55 film shots, a little bit Lynchian. The lo-fi shifts your observation of that subject to something less connected with physical reality. Welcome to Photrio.

I see sockets for the 12AX7 tube, which I recall from a few Pioneer tube amps and the sound track amplification module in the old Moviola upright editors. If memory serves...

Welcome to Photrio! You say the 55 image has deteriorated. Are you referring to the print? The negative should be fine, if you cleared and washed it.
