Hi,

I just starting to get back into large format photography, and rediscovering film. I had a digital SLR, but I came to dislike the quality, and also my shooting style in which I was become a better editor than photographer. I like large format because I can have high quality images without speeding 10 grand on digital equipment. Since I'm often around water it eases my mind not to have thousands of dollars worth of equipment. It also slows me down and forces me to think more about my images.

Long live film!

Hi,
Where in Wisconsin? I am in New Berlin and my next door neighbor and two other friends are almost the only ones in Milwaukee doing LF...Evan Clarke

Hi A Sabai and welcome to APUG. I am in SE WI and also like film for the reasons you gave. In addition, is all the lens and film gear cannot be replaced with the didgi stuff, like a TLR, or F3 with the Mag finder,or the Speed Graphic.

Welcome to APUG. And welcome back to gear-humping-related herniation.

Welcome to APUG. The bigger the negative the better, as far as I'm concerned.

Hello and welcome to APUG from western Massachusetts. Long live large format film!!! :D

That's, just rude.
Aren't we supposed to offer encouragement, and support ???

Christoper, that welcome is priceless !
If I wasn't so tired, I would have pissed my pants.
I'm going to sleep now, hopefully I won't wet the bed.

Welcome! I was a Madison resident for several years and I'm familiar with the Fox Valley, including Oshkosh. Wisconsin is a photogenic place to live, especially in the autumn and especially with big negatives. :D

Welcome!

My wife is from Chetek and both of our children graduated from U-Madison!

You're going to love this site!

I'm from Berlin, 20 minutes away.

Hi there, I'm from Berlin and only do 35mm and MF. I wouldn't hardly know what to do with a LF camera. Ric.

EClarke: I'm from Berlin, you are from New Berlin. I go through there when I run down to Milwaukee to see my sis, but it is a little far to go otherwise. Actually, I have two books on view cameras, 'Using The View Camera' by Steve Simmons and 'Large Format Nature Photography' by Jack Dykinga. I also took the New York Inst. of Photography course and read the material in that. Knowing me I would surely pull out the dark slide and then say, oh, I never closed the shutter. I better stick to something simple like 35mm and MF. Ric. P.S. Thanks for the offer anyway.

I know where Berlin is, we were within about 10 miles last weekend, went to Montello and then N.E. cross country, up Hwy. D from Princeton and then across some little road which brought us to J, then went to Madison to meet the wives for some dinner...EC

Ok, a lot of people get the two mixed up. Sorry to assume you didn't know. Really pretty area up here to shoot. If you get up this way again, check out the covered bridge in Saxeville. Ofcourse there are a lot of ponds and lakes, not to mention rivers. Lots of big Victorian homes in Berlin and Princeton. A few hills like Mt. Morris and a little of whatever you want. Ric.
