Welcome Jim from Calgary out here on the prairies. Things have warmed up here with a chinook and the warm weather is headed your way.
Be careful - film is addictive as is APUG

Hey Jim, from another Winnipegger.

Be sure to drop in to Photo Central, they're my film/chemistry source. Great guys who can probably help you with that Rollie idea, too.

Well in that case, we may well cross paths. It's a rare trip to Winnipeg that I don't stop in at Photo Central!

Hi Jim, and welcome to APUG from a former mostly-Manitoban! Nine years up in the Interlake, plus 4 in Winnipeg - not much, but more than every other place I lived in Canada, including Calgary, Toronto, and Kamloops. I'll be breaking that record soon, as this summer will mark the 13th year I've lived here in Japan.

I'm a huge fan of the Nikon FE (my first love) and still shoot with it regularly. I look forward to seeing some of your work someday.

Actually I love the prairie winters. It's warming up here and soon will be very messy. I'd far sooner -20. But on that I seem to be in the minority.

Tell me about it! My students think I'm crazy when I tell them how much I like the cold and shovelling (fresh, soft) snow. You can take the girl out of Manitoba, but can you really take Manitoba out of the girl?

Any openings for teachers there? I'm a not-so-much winter person....

Of course - but a lot depends on what kind of qualifications and experience you have.

Hi Jim, welcome from Newmarket, ON. I crossed the Rollei off my bucket list some time ago and it felt amazing; not only that but I'm using it. Good luck with your photography projects.

Hi Jim, Welcome to APUG, used to live in St. James by Standard Aero engines, now in South Texas with small studio in Los Angeles,
again welcome from someone who started in film at Sam the Cameraman 1970 gone full circle to digital and back to film bigtime.
Lots of Manitoba plates down here in South Texas, should you ever get down this way, the margaritas are pretty good. All the best on your photography projects!

Hi Rachelle. Thank you for the welcome. About the Manitoba winters - pristine and beautiful. Good for you on your fondness for our weather. About Japan. Was there in 1983 and 1984 with the military - officially hosted by the JMSDF in Atsugi. A week each time. Loved it. Kamakura and Hakone captured me. Be well.

Long way from home you are. I bet the margaritas are indeed good. Thank you for the welcome. I remember Sam the Cameraman. My first visit to Winnipeg was in 1969, and I just kept coming back. A displaced Ontarian but I am where I want to be. Take care. ~jim

Jim here. Been in photography since the 60s when I had my own darkroom at home (very make-shift). Photography has always been a passion. Now in my 70th year having probably more fun than ever, after having returned to film. Love my two Fujifilm digitals (X-E1 and X100S), but have been having such fun (maybe even more fun) with my Nikon FE and my Mamiya 645 1000S. Retired military and civil aviation pilot with about 38 years in aviation. Hello to all.

Welcome and congratulations on living in one of the few Canadian cities with 35mm/120 C41/E6 processing [unlike anywhere in Alberta  ]

whenever I hear the words "damn it's cold out, I usually respond with the request thatt the complainer "Tuck it back in and pull your shirt down over it!"..........my bad!!
