I began lurking around here soon after the site sprang to life. Finally joined last August and subscribed today. So figured it was time to introduce myself.
Hi I'm Mike and I'm an Analogaholic.

I've dabbled in photography on and off for the last 27 years. I learned the basics and fell in love B&W in high school. Built a darkroom and photographed with an old Yashica A TLR. Guess about 7 years ago the bug bit again real hard, began taking the camera every where. Unfortunately (or fortunately) while taking a picture near a waterfall, one of my dogs knocked the tripod over into the river. The old Yashica was never the same. So off I go shopping for a newer camera. Where I was bitten by my latest addiction, LF cameras. I've used and now have 35mm cameras, but don't find 11X14 enlargements from them sharp enough for my tastes. I've been using a 4X5 for about 4 years now. I love the detail that the can capture and the ability to change the plane of focus allows me to record what I see. Last year a great deal on a Deardorff came my way, so now 8X10. Where does it all stop 11X14, 8X20, 20X24!!!
I photograph mostly old buildings and landscapes. Develop my own film and prints (B&W). Lately I've been trying lith printing and other darkroom alchemy. I'm interested in trying some alt processes in the future I'm a member of a local camera club and run the darkroom there. I teach the basic's of B&W processing to the new members who want to learn. Of interest to APUG, many of the older members of this club are leaning towards digital while a lot of the younger members want to learn darkroom techniques. Some have said they use computers all day long for work; they're looking to do something more tactile to be creative. Go figure, all the doom and gloom about the death of film and younger people turning away from digital. The Rebels!

Great to hear your teaching them the true path and with the best available materials .... that HC110 will be good practice for them before they use the sacred Rodinal.
