Who am I?
I am a 47-year old computer systems analyst (a fancy title that
basically means I design computer business software) who caught the
photography 'bug' four years ago and never shook it off.
I enjoy shooting 35-mm black-and-white film - Kodak Tri-X 400 and Fuji Neopan Acros are my favourites - with my always reliable and rugged Nikon F4 35-mm SLR. I've also got an interest in trying medium format photography at some point.
My favourite photographic subjects? Old cars (especially from the 1920s thru the 1940s), old buildings (the older the better) and architecture.
My favourite photographers? The incomparable Ansel Adams, the late, great architecture photographer Ezra Stoller and the great photographers from the renowned Chicago-based architectural photography firm, Heidrich Blessing.
I've also taken several courses on darkroom B&W film development and printing and I'm hooked on it! While I don't have my own darkroom (yet), I do have access to one through my membership in a camera club and I'm taking advantage of it.
Why did I join APUG? to learn, share ideas and work very hard to become a good photographer.
