hiya,
my name is james luckett.
i currently live in tokyo, but grew up all around washington state - mostly near seattle. then spent a few years in arizona. and then some time in chicago.
been working in photography for 18 years, starting in high school with a vocational photography degree. then many many years in colleges studying art (i'm a master!) and then teaching art in colleges and then several more years working as a custom printer in a commercial lab that specialized in very particular sorts of pictures (which you are welcome to read about on my website: http://consumptive.org/adjustments/adjust.contents.html ).
photography is hardly new to me, and yet my abilities are almost entirely intuitive. i can print like the devil, but if i hit a problem i don't always have the knowledge to *think* myself out of it.
so i am here to learn. particular interests these days are large format, contact printing (azo), alternative processes (p.o.p.) and digital negatives.
cheers,
- james
