Hello,
I am from Bristol UK,
I don't know much about film photography, it's been all digital really, Until I came across some old Black And white family portraits that my mother has, also there were many randomly taken shots of landscapes, buildings and people going about their business around the Bristol Area, I think they are from the late 40s - early 70s.
Studying these pictures made me think they look all as good if not better than what was coming from the EPL1 digital I had , there was something more interesting, I couldn't quite put my finger on it, so I decided to start studying black and white photography, Black and white just have something I like.
So here I am now , in the process of creating a darkroom in the small workshop on the side of the house
Out of interests , can I ask are the C7700 pro Color enlargers of good enough quality, that's the one I have.

Glad to hear that you've seen the light, or more correctly "seen the dark"!
When did they move Bristol to the southwest? It's either the Gateway to the North or the Gateway to London, depending which way you're going!
Best wishes,
Steve (in Devon)

Welcome to APUG! Can't help you with your questions about the enlarger, but I'm sure it'll help you get started in the darkroom!

Luke 15:7
I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.

As for the C770 question - a quick search came up with this: (there was a url link here which no longer exists) which might be of help.

Cheers.

Hello and a warm welcome to APUG! The more you get into film the more you like it.

Jeff

I absolutely loved Bristol. My launching point for a tour of England. Welcome to APUG!

Welcome to APUG. I don't know anything about your enlarger, but most color heads are good for black and white papers. You use the yellow and the magenta to control contrast on variable contrast papers.

Lee,
Welcome to Apug. It was here I found I was not alone in my quest to keep shooting Film and learning more.
There are a few other Lee(s) here, glad to meet anouther. I'm in Dayton Ohio, My other Lee Friend is closer to Akron, Cleveland area.

Hope to hear a lot from you. Keep seeing in B&W

The map on Wikipedia extends well north of what I'd regard as the Westcountry - that big red area seems to stretch up to about Worcester! I guess if I had to define the Westcountry, I'd draw a line from somewhere near Weston Super Mare to Poole. I have on more than one occasion been amused by references in the media to Swindon being in the Westcountry.
Anyway, regardless of what labels we put on things, you're very close to one of my favourite areas, the Forest of Dean and the Wye Valley, especially Tintern Abbey and the 365 steps. I also keep on intending to re-visit the SS Great Britain, as I last saw it a couple of years after it was brought back from the Falklands and I believe the restoration has moved on a bit since then!
Best wishes,
Steve

It amuses me too...everything outside the M25 is 'here be Dragons' to a London based hack!

Lee - hello and welcome to APUG from western New England.

Welcome from a fellow forum newbie  Not quite from the West Country, being just south of M4 Junction 16. BTW, when I had a darkroom back in the 1980's, my biggest indulgence was to buy a C7700. Stopped using the darkroom in the early '90's, the enlarger went up in the loft but was finally sold just a year or two ago (to a guy in Cornwall). You will find that it is a superb enlarger (with the right lens, of course).

Hello all,
I haven't been able to get on the forum for over a week for one reason or another.
Thanks again everyone for all the welcomes.

Keith, it's got to be the chances are it's the same guy I got it from, he said to me he bought it a couple of years ago
