Hello, I am an ancient, amateur photographer, almost exclusively using film. I take huge joy and solace in taking pictures, a little less in viewing my results!
I am long retired from IT/information service management and digital curation, with a bit of consulting thrown in at the end. As noted, I am now most interested in film photography. I have retro-scanned photos back from 1967, including the very first photo taken with my new Werra 1; I realised much later that it wasn't my first camera... that was a Decora Digna that came my way again some 50 years later, but quickly got moved on. After the Werra I've had a few Pentax cameras, now ME, MX and LX. I did experiment with a couple of digital pocket cams for a while, but came back to film soon after retiring, and it just seemed to fit. No DSLR/CSC, each time I think I want one I end up thinking how much film I could buy instead! The MX is my daily carry for black and white film. I do have a few different cameras, but the only two that get a bit of use are my late father's Zeiss Ikonta 524/16 (6x6) and my Fujica GS645S for 6x4.5. When I scan negs from these MF/120 cameras, I also try to scan a few from the box of my father's negatives that I have. I do sometimes mess around with weird things, like Intentional Camera Movement on redscaled film! I had a Chroma Camera 4x5 for a few years, but moved it on when I realised I'd only taken 12 frames!
I was born at 310 ppm of CO2 (from ice core data!); we're now over 420 ppm. I have grandchildren and I worry.
I live in the Midlands, UK; I spent 25 years in Adelaide, South Australia before returning to the UK 30 years ago. Active on Mastodon and Talk Photography.
