Hi All,

Just joined and wanted to say hello and introduce myself. I have been interested in photography since I was a kid. Granddad had a darkroom in his basement and had a bunch of 35mm gear, some super 8, etc. I learned how to develop and print around late elementary school age, maybe 10-12 years old. It became more than a hobby when I moved to NYC around ‘86. Had some Rollei 35’s, Nikkormat’s and a Bronica S2A set up with a Polaroid and a few regular backs, a bunch of lenses and tubes. Good stuff. Over the years I began to make more paintings and the photography kinda took a back seat. When digital came into the fore, I ended up gifting/selling a majority of my analog gear.

I kept a few things and also recently inherited a bunch of gear from my brother. I’m most likely going to sell some of the stuff my he collected as it would most likely just sit on a shelf or in a box if I were to keep it. I’d much rather see the good stuff put to use. I have yet to itemize everything as it’s still a bit tricky going through his stuff after his death.

There are 3 Hasselblad bodies and a good number of lenses, backs, a motor drive, a large lense “gun-stock” brace/stabilizer, etc. 1 Pentax 6x7 w/o wood grip, 2 lenses, one being a huge Asahi 600mm and some accessories. A Canon model VT with a Serena’s 1:4 100mm. A few Exacta 500 bodies and a good number of lenses. 1 Olympus OM-2, 1 Pentax 35mm, etc., etc.

Will be going through everything more completely in the not too distant future and posting here in the classified section. I just wanted to say hello and get my feet wet with this introduction.

All my best to all,
Fpicabia

Welcome aboard, from up and bit to the left of you.

Welcome to Photrio, Fpicabia! That's a great selection of gear you have. Make sure you reach the requisite number of (meaningful) postings before you can access the Classifieds. Cheers!

Welcome aboard, thanks for sharing your camera history @Fpicabia

Make sure you reach the requisite number of (meaningful) postings before you can access the Classifieds.
Start here: https://www.photrio.com/forum/threads/how-the-classifieds-section-works-read-this-first.204146 We sometimes make exceptions to the minimum post limit, on a case-by-case basis. Note that this limit applies to posting replies to existing ads in the Classifieds section. To make a new thread e.g. to sell stuff, a Subscriber account is required. To summarize:
  • Anyone can access/read the Classifieds posts, even without a forum account.
  • People with >20 posts (or a kind of waiver) can reply to existing posts and start private conversations to respond to ads.
  • People with a Subscriber account can make new threads (ads) in the Classifieds section.

@Andrew O'Neill Thank you and will do re postings and all. Yeah, quite a selection to look through. I definitely want to hang on to a handful of the gear at this point but there’s much more than I can foresee possibly using. Will dig and do more research to follow the guidelines here respectfully. And cheers back atcha!
Best,
Fpicabia

@koraks Thank you for the helpful link and I’ll dig into it shortly. Also thank you for specifying a few caveats and details. Very well received. I suppose I’ll find out the difference between a forum member and a subscriber in the link you provided.

I’m basically starting over here in Utah after some personal losses near the end of my 40 years in Brooklyn, NY. Long story. Returning to the region where I grew up and hoping to put my skill sets to use here. I ended up with design/build skills using my eye, head and hands. Woodworking, welding/brazing, composites, etc. Can basically fix/fabricate almost anything and enjoy rebuilding/customizing vintage motorcycles from the ground up and build surfboards for fun. Not many good breaks in the desert here though. Ha.

Thanks for the welcoming wishes and tips to navigate this place.

Best,
Fpicabia

Sorry to hear about your losses, but it sounds like you're well set up to embark on a new set of your journey! There's quite a few fellow photographers active in Utah as evidenced by active users as well as frequent new registrations on this site. This bodes well in case you are looking for something in the future (although of course, active photographers does not automatically make for a bustling 2nd hand market).

@koraks Thank you for sharing this information and for the well wishes also. Very well received. Must……remain…………opti..mistic, said in a voice as if one were drowning. Ha. Good to know there are a fair number of people nearby that are on here. We’ll see how everything unfolds.
All my best,

Welcome to Photrio!

I can tell that you have excellent taste and wisdom since you own Hasselblads.

Hello @koraks and All,
I hope I’m addressing the correct person here. I’ve been away from here for a bit getting my life in order at my new home.

I’m definitely interested in putting a few of the cameras I have up for sale and want to make sure that I understood what I read in the forum rules links you shared. Am I correct in understanding that I’d need to subscribe/pay for either 6 months or a year to have the option of creating a classified ad here? Not a problem at all, just want to be sure. Also, regarding the 20 post/replies/comments I need to make to classified sales ads before I can create a classified ad, if I’m not going to be buying anything from the person, it seems that clogging up the comments section in the ad isn’t what I should be doing. Am I correct in understanding that I need to indeed make 20 or so reasonable comments in the classified section even if I’m not going to be buying something?
Forgive me if I’m no reading the forum rule correctly, just hoping to clarify.
Thank you,
Fpicabia

@Fpicabia ,
If you become a paid subscriber, you will most likely be reset automatically to having more access than now.
If that doesn't make all the necessary changes for you, reach out by Reporting your preceding post, and we can attend to our normal manual review and adjustment process.

@Fpicabia please refer to @MattKing's post above - yes, a 6/12-month Subscribership will do the trick and regardless of the no. of posts to your name, you'll be able to post threads in the Classifieds section as soon as the Subscriber account goes into effect. That's usually on the same day.
Please don't feel pressured into making 20 posts; we're perfectly happy with quality over quantity (in fact, it's preferred).

If there's anything we can help you with, please let us know.
