Hi all

I am new here, and I hope to learn more about how to take photos.

I have so far used 135mm automatic camera and digital.

But, now it is time to change. I am dreaming of a old Rolleiflex, 60`s model or early 70`s.
I like to learn how to use a camera like that.
I have these in my mind, back then these cameras did take some of the best pictures, even by todays standard.
So, why not get one and use it today? Well, that is what I hope to do.

So, I hope some here can tell me something about these cameras, how can I learn how to use them?

Also, if anyone know of a good shop, that sell these old cameras, I will be happy.

All information, help is good for me.

Thanks for looking all

Hello and welcome to APUG! You could check out KEH, they may have some Rollei's and other TLRs.

Welcome Vegard!

You can shop from KEH online (just google it). I've also bought TLRs off ebay, there are good deals to be found, but you have to know what you are looking for so you don't end up with something that doesn't work. You might also want to consider other TLRs like the Minolta Autocord or the Yashicamat, which also take really good pictures and are not as expensive as Rolleiflexes.

Hello all

Thanks for the replys to me.

Well, I will google them.
I seek Rolleiflex coz of the European history and the fact that my grandfather had one, way back.

So, witch model of the Rolleiflex is the one that is easiest to use for a newbee like me?

Vegard - hello and welcome to APUG from western Massachusetts USA. www.keh.com is the used camera dealer mentioned above. They are in the USA, maybe someone in Europe can recommend a good shop on that side of the pond. And Rollieflexs in general are quite easy to use, much easier than a lot of the system MF cameras.
Good luck with your search and I hope you enjoy your visits to APUG.

I mean, a ABC guide to a newbe or something?

Thank you all for helping me

Hi Vegard, there are on line manuals once you know what model you are getting. It is not hard to use a Rolleiflex, you turn a dial to set fstops and turn another dial to set shutter speed. You turn a knob on the side to focus through the top. The more important thing to learn, if you don't yet know, is what is an fstop and shutter speed. It might be better to discuss these questions in a part of the APUG that is not for introducing yourself. Also there is a part of APUG that is called "Groups" and it is to collect members that have specific similar interests and there is a TLR group you could join.

Under the general "Forums" heading you will find "Medium Format" for talking about cameras like the Rolleiflex. And you will also find a heading called "Exposure" for talking and learning about how to expose your film correctly.

Perhaps you could also try using the "search" function some to find old discussions of interest.

For the most part the introduction section of APUG is for introducing your self and people to greet you.

Welcome to APUG. It takes a long long time to get tired of this place.

Hello, Vegard. You can also search the forums for threads that regard the camera you wish to use. And welcome to APUG.
