Hi all!
My name is Robin, I'm 25, and I've been taking photos as long as I can remember! I started as a young child with various family compact film cameras, moved on to compact digital cameras after that and then had a couple of DSLRs I got from family members. I got into film photography when I was 18, mainly using Praktica SLRs I got very cheap on eBay. I've always developed my own film and am always interested to try new ways of working. I have a small darkroom at my parents' house which, while small, is quite well equipped. I haven't been in a while for various reasons so I can't quite remember which enlargers I have, one is a very basic hobby enlarger, another is a slightly more advanced one of similar size and the third is a monster of a Durst (I think) that I got for free from a previous employer. I haven't taken many photos in the past 18 months, in part due to the pandemic and in part as a result of my Dad passing away unexpectedly and the mental health problems that followed. I have stocked up on film though and am excited to get out shooting again in his memory, as he was an avid photographer. I find myself with a lot of free time as most of my friends live far away so I have started writing an introduction to film photography for beginners that I intend on self-publishing. I know books are a bit of an old fashioned way to learn these days, but I can't be alone in liking having a physical book to refer to! I'm excited to have such a fantastic site as this to help with my research, as there's definitely things I could stand to understand better!
Thanks for reading!
Robin

Hi Robin. I'm renting a sublet here in Tucson, Az from someone from Scotland. She had to leave the US due to her visa expiring, and what w/ Covid and all, she will have been away for 1 1/2 years when I move out in November. I've been all over, and love the accents that different people have. Elaine's was a new one though. She says "oop" for up, and "wee" for a little bit of something.

Hi Robin,
welcome here from a great Scotland lover!
We have been there at least a dozen times ;-)

Welcome to APUG Photrio!!

Welcome from New England! (also a fellow Scot, although a few generations back)

Glad you could join us! Publishing a book sounds like a great undertaking, anything that can help the newer generations get into photography and especially film sounds like a great idea.
