I started learning optics about 1950 playing with my dad's 3.25x4.25 speed graphic with lens from an enlarger and focal plane shutter - gosh, lenses invert the image and focus by changing the distance. Started taking photos with my dad's Voigtlander Bessa, brought back from Germany after WW2. My first camera was an argus A-four. In Japan while in the US Navy in the early 60's, bought a Petri rangefinder (was paid $78 an month at the time), uptraded to a Pentax Spotamatic, then a Nikon F2 Photometric with 28, 50, and 105 lens and lots of accesories. Foolishly traded it for a bunch of cash and a Nikkorex. More relieved than mad when it was stolen. Now have Canon 5D, 20D and 60D. Did darkroom processing in high school and later on the Navy base but nothing since. My interest bounces around between photography, electronics radio, chess, music. Retired electronic engineer.
