Hello everyone, my name is Max and I live near Prague for several years, I'm from France and I have italian origins. I've been into film photography since my teenage years, although I started to practise seriously my passion since 2005 only. I'm a rangefinder and medium format user. I've been pretty active under the same nickname on a well known rangefinder forum, and I thought I would have a look at APUG to look for fellows sharing the same interests.

My current setup is the following:

Rangefinder: Zeiss-Ikon Contax IIIa
Medium format: Pentacon Six

I have a rather comprehensive array of lenses, especially for my PSix setup. I also have a Flexaret IIIa TLR although I use it rarely. Although I enjoy shooting with my rangefinder, I have a tendency to prefer the Pentacon Six and carry it around everywhere I'm going

I also develop my own bw film at home, and used to print at home as well, although I sold all my darkroom printing equipment during an international move in 2007.

It looks pretty nice here at APUG but I need to find out how it works and to get to know the forum and the mood better before starting posting!

I wish you all a very nice evening

Kind Regards,
Max

Robert, Gandolfi: I always like to meet photographers coming to Prague around a cup of coffee or tea, whenever possible  I have this tradition from another photography forum ... do let me know if you'll be around!

A French Italian living in Prague and typing in English!

I love the Internet! So many borders are crossed and co-mingled, it really can bring folks together.

Welcome to APUG. As for how it works? I am new here myself. Browse the "groups" tab. You find a group you like (i.e. rangefinders) you subscribe to it. Without subscribing you can only read. After subscribing you can also post!

That's separate from the forums. If you're just interested in the forums, there's nothing to figure out. They work just like you might expect.

there are many other features to the APUG webpage (blogs, galleries, etc) but I've only just scratched the surface here myself.

Hi, thanks for the hints, I didn't notice the Groups yet! Yes, internet is a chance, so many folks you wouldn't meet that easily somewhere else! As for languages, I'm also lucky to speak fluently czech (and understand another handful of languages) but I'll rather stop the "showtime" here ;-)

I'm going to go browse this groups, so welcome too Markster! What kind of photography are you into?

35mm color (I have done some B&W in the past). Many folks here on APUG are professionals, or far more skilled in the art and science of photography than I am. I like to capture moments, memories, and events. Vacations, hikes, etc. I'm not as interested in abstract photos or "ordinary" photos with really interesting light -- I like interesting subjects if I can get them!

If I can't find something interesting, I'll look for something normal in interesting lighting/placement.

I have a very simple interest in photography: It's fun! I like it! Outside of that I'm not looking to win any contests, or get a job with TIME Magazine.

Welcome to APUG, Max. Just take it a piece at a time. And the mood is generally pretty light. Jump in when you feel the groove.

Welcome to APUG, Max. I've heard that Prague is a beautiful city, although I have never been there. I would love to visit.

Mats_A, Christopher Walrath, fotch, papagene,Chazzy: many thanks  Whether you've been here, never been or planning to come: you're welcome!

frdrx: are you czech or are you a foreigner too? I've been here for nearly a decade, I left 5 months for France but I missed it so much I had to came back. I totally hate the winter months but that's what you get for a nice country, nothing can be perfect ;-) where are you "outside of prague" ?

Thanks TheFlyingCamera  The city is lovely even in winter... even the countryside is ... but it's terribly cold and days are so short!
