Hello from Ontario Canada.
I have been on this forum a few years ago.
Never got around to going ahead, I just find the initial push quite scary.
However, it is always on my mind and I have a Nikon fe2 which has never been really used and
my original canon Ae-1 which has maybe 30 rolls on it's entire life.
I am 57 years old so, film, and especially black and white is even more intriguing to me than ever.
When did I start to always think that one day I would try and develop and print myself?
When I first saw the Exorcist and the photographer was in his darkroom developing prints and he saw the line across his neck foreshadowing his eminent demise. ( He seemed almost like a mad scientist). I am no scientist......
Ghastly, isn't it.
But this darkroom thing stuck with me on and on .
I do have a question about something awry with my Canon AE-1 that I will post in the 35mm forum space.

Frank, could you please tell me where you buy your bulk 35mm films
Ilford Canada only sells them as single units I think.

Welcome to APUG Ron! I lived in Toronto for a few years, but could never really call it home. I don't know if I can say the same about Japan, but it is a great place to be a film photographer, all things considered.

Ronald, I haven't bought 100ft bulk film in many years. I either got it through Henrys, or ordered from Freestyle.

I should have caught myself.
I used the word bulk when what I wished to write was rolls that come in packages of 12 or whichever they are normally sold in this fashion.
Assuming that they are cheaper than buying them one at a time.

Ahh, okay. So the last film I bought was from Freestyle but that was before the canadian dollar tanked. The time before that was at Henrys in Toronto. If Toronto is inconvenient, then one of Henry's GTA stores can order it in. Takes a day or 2. I look for sales so check out Vistek and Downtown Camera in Toronto as well.

BTW, as anyone ever seen ghost figures in your prints while developing in your darkroom.
I would turn on the main light faster than you can say Jack Robinson.

BTW, Ronald, I recently ordered a load of Ilford Delta 100 - 35mm & 120 - from BB&H. Even with the C$ in the toilet and having to pay their customs charge I still saved around $120 on 20 rolls of film. The price differential on Ilford film is quite remarkable.

Does this effect the film? even marginally.

Does it? Anyway, if it does, it has no effect on the film as far as I can see. I've shot / developed both formats so far with no fogging / effects.

Customs doesn't X-ray everything.

And the possibility exists that B&H film/darkroom shipments may actually receive special "Do Not X-ray" handling.

Canada is civilized country, after all. I recieved film in bulk, not only from USA but from Europe as well. Several times. No problems.

Had one problem from Xray damage but Freestyle replaced it without a problem. Buying now only in Canada due to exchange rate. Beau Photo has really upgraded their film and chems supply so everything is looking good on this side of Canada.
