Hello,

I am a 22 year old student at the University of Alabama in Huntsville pursuing degrees in sociology and economics. I started shooting about three years ago when my mom gave me the Canon Rebel that she shot my younger years on.

I dabbled in digital for a while but eventually came back to film when I started getting bored with my work. I picked the Rebel up again and realized how much I enjoyed the process of shooting and processing film.

I moved to medium format (RB-67 and Yashica Mat-124g) and have been shooting mostly that for the last year. I recently acquired a Leica M4 so that I could capture my day-to-day life better, but 35mm just isn't doing it for me.

I haven't really found a direction with my work yet. Everything I have shot that I have been proud of has been nature or architecture, but I would like to delve into portraiture here in the near future. I am not particularly interested in having a gallery at any point, but I love the idea of small photo books that I could give to family, friends, and anyone interested. I think of my photography as adding paragraphs to my autobiography, and I am content with that.

When I am not shooting, I am doing research, watching Disney movies, playing music, picking locks, or skateboarding.

Bailey, welcome. Its a great place to learn, cross-pollinate ideas.

I hear shooters talk about not having a style or direction like its a problem. I don't think it is. When you get the appetite to bump your shooting to a further place - all of that comes w/out much direct efforts. If you wanted to be good in a specific genre - that's one thing. But otherwise - have as much *FUN* as you can. The rest will come. The fun factor is much harder to replace when lost.
I also tried electric, but found I don't love it, and I do love to shoot film.
'Hope you have a wonderful time here.
