Although I'm not the type of person to join any old forum site I just had to join APUG after reading some of the friendly, interesting comments from APUG members.

I became interested in photography in 1978 as a hobby, buying into a Canon SLR system.

However, much to my shame I committed the cardinal sin of selling my gear during the 80's when money was very tight indeed. This is something I have always regretted.

After receiving an Olympus C-220 Zoom digital compact camera as a birthday present in 2003, this rekindled my interest in photography.

Yes I know that this is an outdated digital camera by today standards but it served me well until I was able to buy a Canon EOS-1V HS 35mm SLR.

I bought the camera on ebay (not my favourite website) where they seem to be giving them away and am now saving money for extra lenses. My intention is to expose B&W negative film, self process them and then to scan them into my PC and print them via a printer.

Due to my failing health I will not be building a darkroom again.

Nice meeting you all and thanks for all of your help in advance, Bob

Welcome to APUG Bob, from sunny Southend.

As you intend printing from your computer you may also be interested in APUG's sister site HybridPhoto.com

Welcome from stormy Turkey, it's been raining cats & dogs and reminding me of England.

I can understand your reason for not building a darkroom, but maybe think about getting some genuine fibre based prints made from your best images.

Bob,

Welcome to APUG from NYC.

Just as a "heads up", although many of us, myself included, scan film negs (and such scans, unmanipulated, are permitted to be uploaded in The Gallery) we generally reserve discussions of that procedure to the Hybridphoto sister site.

Welcome from the Midlands, Bob. As a Sunderland resident, remember to carry your camera everywhere. You could be the first to capture a certain Irishman smiling. The papers will pay a fortune for it. Here's a clue - he's got a certain interest in a local football team.

Hi Bob from North Northumberland, you are almost a next door neighbour. Enjoy your return to photography, you have come to the best place available on the web to do so.

Hello Bob and welcome from western New England.
