We say we live in LA but not the California version :D

Just getting back into the craft. I grew up w/ a photo-centric father who loved the camera. I took some photography courses in High School as did my wife. Her father actually taught art and photography so she has a better grasp on everything. She is actually a very accomplished photographer having shot several weddings for people and had some photos published her local paper in Charleston, SC.

What brought about the renewed interest was my son is entering in high school and will be taking a course in photography. He was gifted a fairly modern Minolta that we finally managed to get a batteries for. I busted out my old Konica AutoReflex T from back in the day to show him and my wife followed with her Nikon N70. Later we found a Nikkormat, Minolta SRT101, and a Minolta XG7 with lens, filters, flashes for next to nothing so we bought them. The other day I found a Craigslist ad selling a Beseler 23c, timer, trays, tanks, bulk film loader, ect for 100.00 so we picked that up.

I am pretty excited to be re-entering photography as I found it a very gratifying hobby. I tried to get into digital but found many of the photos have gotten lost being stored on hard drives that had gotten corrupted, or storage mediums that were lost or damaged. I began to looking into film again and settled on trying to stay in the B&W medium mostly so that we can develop our own prints and keep the development cost as low as we can while still producing great prints.

I've lurked for ages and am finally getting around to introducing myself. Thanks for the great site. I have learned much so far.
