Hi everyone. First post, just to say hello.

I've spent the last 12 years working in digital for newspapers, all the while being very annoyed that my film skills we're seemingly redundant. I have now popped out the other end of digital and can report that it's very realistic, just like photography only with all of the soul removed.

I've spent all of 2007 on an M6 with Tri-X or HP5 and have realised that if there's anything I need to say about the world I'm not going to leave it on a hard drive somewhere.

I thought I was on my own here!

PETE.

Welcome Pete. You're on your own with about 20,000+ others at the last count. You're never alone with APUG or was that a Strand as in the famous Bert Hardy advert of the 50s when photography was photography.

Pete - Welcome to APUG from western New England USA. You are among folks of similar mind here. There is a very active group of APUG'ers on your side of the pond. I hope you get a chance to meet them soon.

Morning Pete; welcome from a Londoner in exile in the North. Although I'm moving back to London - I just need to find a house that (a) I can build a darkroom in and (b) I can afford...

Your portraits are excellent and the accompanying text shows your affinity with the subject. That is probably the best portrait of Keith Richards I have ever seen and the text explains the look. And by the way, welcome to APUG.

Isn't photography great. I'm 37 now and I've been learning since 1992. I feel that now I have just got my chin over rung 1 of the ladder. If you make sure you're NEVER sidetracked by advertising, you can really concentrate and really say something.
