Morning Pete; welcome from a Londoner in exile in the North. Although I'm moving back to London - I just need to find a house that (a) I can build a darkroom in and (b) I can afford...

Hi Tim. I know the feeling. A darkroom's not much to ask is it? Nor is house come to think of it.

PETE.

I've spent all of 2007 on an M6 with Tri-X or HP5 and have realised that if there's anything I need to say about the world I'm not going to leave it on a hard drive somewhere.

Thats a really great quote Pete, welcome to APUG, you now have a friend on every corner of this planet

Pete,
Welcome from this corner of the world. Enjoyed looking at your work. To quote one of your subjects you've "been waiting for the great leap forward" back to film and to APUG.
Yes, a great statement. I have taken many digital images I really like but I only think of the objects in sleeves that I can pour over and make a print from as my "real" photographs.

Let me know if there's another get-together of photographers as I quite fancy saying hello.

PETE.

I suppose that you would have seen the thread about the meet in Northumberland : (there was a url link here which no longer exists)

That's the next get-together in the pipeline, except if you want to organise one :D

Just joined. Nobody hit me, but for PRINTING ONLY I'm going digital. Partly because I've no room for a darkroom (tiny basement, and I have other plans for it). Intend to continue developing to the negative stage (via lightproof changing bag), then scanning. GLAD I put-off buying a 35mm-only slide and negative scanner, because I'm going to need one that also accepts 2+1/4 in. / 6cm. square negs. (black & white only from twin lens reflex; shoot all color on 35mm). Anything special I should know? Can I still use "classic" B & W filters with the same net results? [Albany, NY metro area; USA]

Welcome Bernard.

You will get far more help on our sister site

http://www.hybridphoto.com/forums/home.php

with regard to help with digital printing matters than we can provide here.

As Delphine suggests it would also be better to start your own introduction thread.

Hello Pete.
Welcome from yet another Londoner who has aso worked the streets and haunts of the great city - now trying to retire in sleepy East Dorset.

Thanks for all the hellos everyone. Feels just like home.

Would any of the London lot (north preferably) fancy getting together sometime for a coffee etc. and have a nerdy chat of some sort!?

PETE.
