Hello from Germany

Hello all,

after reading for months here I also finally joined this forum. So first, thanks to all contributing here also paving my way back to analog after more than 15 years of pure digital photography. Great to see that there are still (and again) so many analog photographers worldwide.

I am a pure amateur and I work 35 mm / portable only, Nikon FM2 and FE2 and sometimes with a rangefinder camera.

Most pictures I shot are B&W, self-developed in Rodinal or FX39-II but due to lack of a darkroom I scan the negatives with a 35 mm film scanner.

My main photographic areas of interest are rural landscapes and old buildings/architecture.

When I started on this website, I only shot 35mm film with a Nikon N75 and a 28mm to 300mm AF zoom lens.

Then I bought a Nikon 20mm to 35mm AF zoom lens.
Then I inherited a Mamiya C330f with three lenses and every accessory for it in the known world.
The Mamiya got traded in for a Hasselblad 503 CX and a Hasselblad 250mm lens.
Then I bought the Hasselblad 80mm lens.
Then I bought the Hasselblad 50mm lens.
I bought a stainless steel development tank with Hewes reels.
Then I bought a changing tent.
Next I bought the Hasselblad 150mm lens.
Then I bought a Nikon F100 so I could shoot black & white film too.
Bought a Nikon 28mm to 200mm AF zoom lens.
Next I bought a 4"x5" Pacemaker Speed Graphic and a 4"x5" Graflex Model D.
Then came Grafmatic 45 backs.
4"x5" lenses
Hasselblad 903 SWC
A Chromega 5DXL enlarger with the color head.
Changed a bedroom into a dry darkroom.
Changed the master bathroom into a wet darkroom.
Bough a 32' wide drum print dryer.
Bought not one but two Jobo film processors.
Sold one of the Jobos and filled the freezer with film.
Hasselblad 30mm Fisheye lens
Hasselblad 500mm lens.
Hasselblad filters.
Photography books.


If you want a peaceful life and comfortable life style, you will run away from this website as fast as you can!

(7 am here in Germany Thanks for warm welcome here. And yes, after such a long period of analog abstinence analog photography is in the meanwhile for me (surprisingly ?) like a drug and pretty harmful to my money purse... BTW, I am located close to the city of Nuremberg in south Germany but originated from the baltic see area.

Welcome, Heiko, to Photrio - it's great to have you here. My first real camera was a Nikon FE, and I still shoot it today! However, like Sirius Glass (we joined around the same time) my experience here has gone from having the FE and a TLR, to now owning over 50 cameras and who knows how many lenses. Pinhole, large format, medium format, panoramic, instant...you name it, I've tried it (and/or own it). And all because of this site! I'm not complaining though!

Hello all!

I thought I would introduce myself as I am new to the forum.

It also seemed sensible to answer this thread as I will be relocating back to Munich next week (currently in London but have lived in Germany for the last 5 years - only been back in the UK for a year but decided to move back (my wife is German)).

More importantly.. about photography! I've been shooting film actively for quite a few years and have a blog I regularly update (started with a 52 rolls of film project):

In terms of kit I've got a mix of 35mm (Leica, Rollei 35, + indestructible Nikon L35AF for Oktoberfest) and Medium format (Hasselblad 501c and Rolleflex for travel). I've just taken the plunge into 4x5 (Linhof) so keen to take some trips to the Alps to try it all out. I develop black & white film at home, colour I send to a lab (Photo Studio 13 in Germany is my go-to lab; AG Photo in the UK

I also wanted to check if anyone from the forum is in Munich - and do you know of any photography darkrooms that are currently active? I had joined one here in London and really enjoyed it, keen to keep the printing going!
