For those of you who want to type accented characters - look here: http://www.genealogia.fi/faq/faq008e.htm

For example: to type é keep the 'Alt' key held down whilst you type 130 then let go. As if by magic, é appears!

Oui, tu te trompes (malheureusement). Mon Francais n'est pas si parfait.

I speak French since 1987, when I moved to Brussels (and stayed there for 6 years) for my Fine Art studies (ENSAV La Cambre). I speak English since 1970 or something, but I never lived for a long period of my life in an English-speaking country... I've got English, French and German speaking friends since I can remember myself... I've always been reading stuff (books, magazines, now things on the net) in English (and later, French) and less frequently in Greek (that is because there are more interesting things written in those languages than in my "langue maternelle", Greek !!!)

So, there you are...

Thank you for the tip, Steve. It seems like a complicated way to type those letters, though... ÃåÝÈÓÚ (but it works !!)

If you search for alt character codes you can get a much bigger list with codes for practically every symbol ever written (typed) but this one was simpler as it only showed the accented letters. Its small enough to print out and keep near your keyboard if needed.

Yes, but it is far from bad ! For me, someone who uses such a funny expression likes "Débiles pelliculomanes", could have been a French native or from French-speaking people (like Belgian)

Thanks you ! Oui, j'ai vu que vous etiez en France. Votre Français est tout de même très bon ! Je me trouve sur le point le presque le plus à l'ouest de France (îles misent à part) en Bretagne (Brittany) , près de Brest. Nous ne sommes pas encore trop loin ! De plus j'ai de la belle-famille pas très loin de Poitiers. Je suppose que vous connaissez le Marais Poitevin ? Please use English if you are more at ease with keyboard or language

Le patois reste encore; les Moncontouroises (ma village) disent par example 'goret' pour 'petit cochon'.

Mais etes-vous Francais ou Breton? Moi, je suis ne en Cornouaille (Kernow); la meme langue comme Bretagne (Kernev). Kernow bys vecken (if that's spelled right). Pour moi, il faut pratiquer mon français, meme quand c'est affreux...

Je visite de temps en temps des amis en Bretagne, mais dans l'est; peut-etre on peut faire un rendez-vous une fois.

I know this term, it's frequent in the whole France country, and I am not sure it belongs to a particular patois. In fact, my Larousse says it come from the Old French Language. This explains that...

No problem ! In fact, I checked where is Moncontour, it's not far from Bressuire and Thouars. I know relatively well Bressuire, since it is not very far from where is my parents-in-law, and when I studied in Clermont-Ferrand in Auvergne, Bressuire was on my way. I recall myself a fantastic old ruined castle in the town center.

For not keeping alive this thread without necessity, I will reconfigure my profile to receive private e-mail (if I understanded well the gizmo) so if you or anybody want to chat in English, French or Franglais (Frenglish ?) with me, you are welcome

Dear Jack,

You can stay at my place every time you come to Athens, the only problem is that you'll have to pay the outlanders special income tax, which is payable directly to me BUT it is calculated in relation to your yearly income, every year.

If you're interested I'll send you some forms to fill out, they're really easy to understand and you'll start paying right away. Then (after a 3-year test period has elapsed) you'll be free to reside at my place (for a maximum of two days every 4 years, of course) every time you're in Athens. If you want to bring your wife or friend along, there's absolutely no problem, providing that she/he will also agree to follow the same abovementioned procedure first.

What A deal. I'm in. The check is in the mail. I did call the Greek consulate here and they said that you were on the level. They also said that perhaps you forgot to mention that this deal comes with an unlimited quantity of greek salad, my favorite.

I am afraid that, due to extension of my old camera private museum, (and incidentaly, family number growth, soon), I have no room to receive you with dignity.

But if you are fond of camping, I have a grassy plot of land not to far, where you can put up the tent. But please be warned that now is the time of equinoxial tempests, here...

And if you want to help paying my local property tax (a sort of tithe paid to the local lords ), it will be greatly appreciated...

First, I'm ashamed that I have never formally introduced myself to the forum, as you have. (My apologies to the forum. I'll do it soon . . . I think).

Probably, you already know that this is one of the most useful photography forums on the web. Good information and advice, nice and knowledgable people, good photography.. le paradise, quoi!

I live in Paris, so you are welcome to contact me for coffee, croissants, wine, beer ... (not at the same time!) If you know of the boutique called Le Grand Format on the blvd. Beaumarchais, I go there quite frequently and
congregate with great friends who are fans and experts in large format and other forms of photography (not to be confused with the other people called "customers"!). The discussion is always assez vivace! There are good cafés nearby and we could meet, talk, drink, look at each-other's photos, talk, drink, talk, spill, stumble (trébucher?), stain (se tacher) ... (Comme tu peux constater, 'suis pas toujours trés serieux ... mais justement, y'a pas une meilleure raison de se rencontrer!)

As well, I have a friend with a house near Dinand, en Bretagne. He is an amateur large format photographer and he is just finishing building a darkroom. I visit him a few times a year, so perhaps we could meet there, si tu veux.
