ell, I've been a lurker at this site for some time. I discovered it through some members over at rangefinderforum.com. I have learned so much just from reading the posts here I thought it was about time I contribute to the cause.

I am a multimedia designer/developer and animator by day and live and breath pixels all day long. I shoot digital for work but I was trained (in design school) on analog photography and I just love film. When I came across this site I was so happy to see so many others that love it too. I have been focusing allot of attention to my B&W darkroom work in the last year and have learned tons. Probably the hard way but that's how I learn best.

I am looking forward to getting feedback on my images from you all and learning how to produce better prints.

D.

Hi Derek, welcome to the forum. What part of Colorado are you lving in? I was raised in Colorado Springs, but have lived in Hawaii for the past 8 years.

Welcome

Hi Derek, Welcome! I live in Evergreen, Colorado and, like you, love how busy and informative APUG is.
Ed

Welcome Derek. There are a bunch of us computer professionals here that consider computers work and do analog photography for fun. I don't know what kind of photography you do but if you are looking for pointers about NM look me up.

Sandman, thanks for the warm welcome. I noticed that there are a few folks here in the state on this forum. Do you get together much? I saw in the regional lists that there was some talk a while back about it but did it happen?

avandesande, I will be in NM this summer. My wife grew up in Los Alamos so we go down to eat our way around Santa Fe once a year or so. It's always a great place to shoot. I'd love any pointers you have.

D.

Hey Derek. We have not managed to get together in the last year or so that I have been actively involved here. I have tried a couple times, but it seemed like it was more work than I or anyone else was interested in taking on. I might try again, we have a facility that we could use for a small get together or a staging point for an outing. Perhaps I should post something fresh in the regional group.

Welcome to APUG, don't be shy about asking for information, the folks here are very generous with their knowlege.

Paul.

Derek, Nope... there was a list of sorts a few months ago about getting together but nothing happened. Maybe we need to keep things simple like having a beer at Bennigans or something to start off. I would certainly love to meet other large format shooters here in Colorado or to take a trip somewhere for a shoot. This time of year I get a craving to go to Moab. Anyone interested?

Robert, this time of year I always think of the islands.

One of the reasons I left Colorado was because the winter was just too long. Now, when it gets cold, I close the windows, and when it gets hot, I open them. :D

Boulder is one of my favorite places to visit, right behind Santa Fe/Taos. Luke- Welcome!

I am in Aurora, Richard Boulware is in Denver and Pete Caluori is in Castle Rock and I know seeral others that would be interested.

Seems to me that we need to pick a time and place and kick off a get together.

Cheers!

roteague,
You know, it's not really the cold that bothers me. It's mostly the wind that I can't stand. My office is out by rocky flats and we get 80mph winds once a week.

unohuu,
thanks for the warm welcome. Boulder is a nice area for sure.

Michael,
I think you are right. Let's pick a time and a central place and have a beer.

D.

Can someone recommend a casual get-together place which is not too far for everyone to go to? It looks like maybe a place on the near north side would be fair to the Boulder/Louisville folks. I live in Evergreen but am down the hill all the time. Evenings or a Sunday would be best for me.

Michael and Sandman,
Should we post something in the Regional Groups/Denver forum? Maybe we could meet someplace in the downtown area so it's central to most folks.

Stoo,
Thanks for the welcome, I do love to lurk but it freaks my wife out.

D.

Good idea... lets start a new thread in the Regional forum, requesting a meeting location preference (eg north, central etc), days of the week preference and I officially volunteer to create a spreadsheet to see what would be a good compromise for the responders. This shouldn't take too much work to get together with enough lead time.

Downtown some evening would be fabulous. I was down there on Wednesday night visiting with a Kodak rep I have come to know the last few months. He was in town for the Nature Photographers Association conference that is going on as we speak.

If someone wants to pick a night and a place in or near the Downtown Denver area, we can toss it around and get things started. There are far to many folks participating in this art form to not have the benefit of each others friendship, knowledge and experience.

Cheers!

There is a new thread in the Denver forum requesting information from interested persons.
(there was a url link here which no longer exists)
Take care,
Ed
