Hello from California

Hi everyone. My name is Carol Jones and I live in the mountains near Los Angeles California. I have been taking pictures since I was a litte girl, maybe 8 years old. I have been an active photographer all my working life. As a professional photographer I have worked all over the world, including war zones such as Iraq and Afghanistan. For my studio and photojournalist work I use digital media. But for my fine art and other print work I still use film. I have my own photo lab with two wonderful ladies who do all my processing. The bulk of my work now is in prints for commercial enterprises like new buildings, restaurants and offices. Fortunately there is a lot of demand for this in the LA area, and in the US. As far as cameras go, for my digital work I use the workhorse Nikon D850’s. For film I have four basic outfits, Nikon F4, Olympus OM-1, Nikon F2, and Canon A-1. I am looking forward to participating in this forum, and getting to know you. Carol

Hi Carol, nice of you to join us! It would be nice for the LA group of Photrio members to get together sometime- but it never seems to work out, unfortunately. I’ll bet you have some stories to tell!
Which mountain area are you in? I lived for a short while up in Crestline years ago and had friends in Mt Baldy Village.

Hi. Thanks for your welcome. Yes a coffee klatch of LA members would be welcome. As soon as things slow a bit maybe we can set that up. I live in Valle Vista so I am not far from the city. I have been shooting some of the new live fall tv shows which is crazy. Like DWTS. Haha. Crazy.

Thank you for the welcome. I accidentally ignored you, my apologies. I hope I fixed it. I do still use the F2’s from time to time. I actually prefer the Canon A1’s for their auto exposure. I have had a variety of medium format cameras over the years, such as hassies, mamiya, and Pentax. I just didn’t find any advantage to justify the increased weight and cost over 35mm. To each his own, for sure.
