' just would like to say hello to all of you - I was glad to have found this site - already helped me a great deal to not completely mess up the first rolls of film.
I always loved photography, but right now i spend a lot of time with it.
A brief history about me, myself and I and photography.
In the late 1990ies I visited a youth club - they had a darkroom and gave courses there, so I learned a bit there, but wasn't getting too deep into it. Almost forgot about it.
A few years ago (2011) I went digital, using photography as a research tool during a field-research. Actually, I was getting more interested in taking pictures (and sharing them) than writing about the subject I was into at that time.
Sometimes it seems to take sad events to bring back certain activities. 2012 I inherited three camera bodies and a bit of glass, but wasn't really able to deal with 'em.
Just for fun I took one of these cameras early this year, got myself some bw- film (HP5+, yay), and went shootin'.
At least, that move brought me back to photography at all, but somehow there was this idea, that I would love to have a more compact (and lighter) camera, so I bought another digital one.
Since I went to the lab, to get my two rolls of HP5+ and the prints, I never touched the digital camera again. I was blown away by the quality of the pictures - in a technical sense.
But since I payed for the development, and I knew that I would keep on with the analog way of things, I started to at least do the negatives myself.
Right now I'm working in a hybrid way, scanning' my negatives. I'm quite happy to get negatives at all, but things a getting better, sticking to one camera, one lens, and a hopefully more consistent way of process.
I use Pentax cameras - like explained above, they found a way to me. And I completely fell in love with the way they respond, the haptics.
We'll - that's it for now, and I#m glad to be here.
Yours,
Brian

Welcome from a fellow Pentax user. If you like the HP5+ and you like color, get yourself a 35mm slide projector and a roll of Fuji Provia 100F or Fuji Velvia 50. Prepare to be amazed.

Pentax Cameras and Slides

I didn't even knew about that fact that I got some great Pentaxes - one of 'em is a MX. It really puts me in the driver seat, both in the good and in the bad ways, because of being almost completely manual. Right now the MX is getting overhauled - it's going to be THE camera for me to do my photography with. Until I get it back, there's still an ME to use .
And yes, I would love do give slide film a try in the near future - my friend will be happy with that, too. She's often using her LOMO, and loves rich, colorful photos - while I'm more on the monochrome side of things. Also I#m sitting on a bunch of yet empty slide-frames.
I heard that slide film is less forgiving in terms of exposure? Still need a lot of experience.
Thanks for all the 'Welcomes'.

Yours,
Brian

In Germany you can get good 35mm slide projectors for next to nothing. Finding screens of the same quality will be harder though...

One can use a smooth white wall in a pinch.
