I have been lurking for some months now, learning more than I ever imagined and enjoying the spirit of the discussions.

I've been shooting 35mm for 25 years and have recently made two long-dreamed about moves. First, I got a home darkroom up and running and am truly hooked. As others have said - there's nothing quite like seeing that first image appear before your eyes in the developer tray. A fantastic blend of art & science that only makes me want to do more.

Second, I just acquired my frst MF rig. I read many of the "how should I start in MF?" threads and decided on a Mamiya TLR. After a bit of shopping & bidding patience, I picked up a C330F with two lenses in very good condition. had it CLA'd and now I can't wait to see what I can do.

Reading all the threads on MF and other topics has been quite rewarding for me. Both because of the knowledge and insight I have gained, and that the level and tone of the discussions are the finest I have ever seen on a web user group. Thanks for your help - past, present & future!

Welcome Brian.

Welcome Brian. I had a very similar experience with APUG and large format. Be careful, next thing you know Dave Wooten will come by your place of employment personally to extol the virtues of 14" X 17" cameras! :D

Welcome, Brian.

I used Mamiya TLR's for years - very reliable and you can get some great shots. The optics are surprisingly good, even when compared to SLR's with 10 times the weight in glass.

Welcome Brian. What kind of photography do you like?

... and with a name like that, you must be licensed to shoot .

Welcome Brian,
Where are you located? I love my medium format camera. Hope you do too.

Welcome Brian,
The TLR is a great way to go and not break the bank, you get a good size negative, less stress and more enjoyment of craft. If you have questions please ask no matter what they are.

Curt

Thanks

Thanks for the welcomes - in response to your ?s

- I'm in central Connecticut, a little south of Hartford

- I like to shoot nature, people, architectural details, among other things

- License to shoot - I like that! I picked that name a while back on some other internet service - I needed something easy to remember. Definitely not up to Bond's standards in charming women or other feats of derring-do, but I do enjoy a martini now & then (shaken or stirred - I'm not picky!) Certainly my C330 is not something that would fit neatly up my sleeve, but Bond's handlers could probably fit a small missile inside it.

Dear Brian,

A friend of mine, who used to be in MI6, had a cartoon pinned up in his kitchen. Q is pointing at a watch and saying to Bond, "We've taken out the death ray and the heat-seeking laser and put in this amazing little device that tells you the time."

Welcome to APUG!

Cheers,

Welcome Brian, I've been driving a couple of C 330 Fs for many years, and I know we have loads of members who use them too, I hope you enjoy your new camera and Apug.

Welcome Brian. This really is a great place. Just about anything you want to know is here somewhere, if not in the archives, in someone's head.
Enjoy.
Rick.
