I've just developed a roll of HP5. Fresh developer, correct temp. All times are correct and fixed properly. I take it out of the tank and it is milky white where it should be clear. Is this a fix problem and what can I do?

Panic over. It was the fix. I had mixed up two batches at the same time, one for film and one for paper. It appears the film mix has gone off already. I've just put sme of the other mix in and it's cleared right up.

Sparx, Been there and done that and it's that sudden feeling of S%^t that gets you LOL Happily the film doesn't seem to get ruined in the few seconds it's out in the light. Hope your going to post some of the results

Unless I know my fix is brand new I always save a clip of the film to test in the fixer. I wet the film clip in water for a minute or so then time how long it takes for the film to clear in the fixer. I usually at least double the clearing time when I fix the film.

Gerald - I do the same in-printed in my brain when when I was first shown how to develop a film.

Sparx - strange and interesting! HP5 really is good stuff I just hope we get to keep it.
