Hawaii based Portrait Photographer

I just found a Hawaii-based portrait photographer and thought I would share her site with you. She seems to only do B&W, although I'm not sure if she uses digital or film. She is having a showing at a gallery nearby in a month or so.

Good, I wrote her and invited her to join APUG. She has a showing of her work, starting in March, at a local framer/gallery about two blocks from my office. This is the framing shop that does all my work.

My favorite Hawai'i portraitist is even more analogue than us--a painter named Stanley Ort. You can see a lot of his work at a gallery/cafe run by his daughter on Moloka'i. The website really doesn't do justice to the work, but here it is--

His work looks pretty good, but I have to admit that paintings do absolutely nothing for me.

A few months ago, I met Dewitt Jones, who lives on Moloka'i and he told me that has had trouble getting into galleries there.

Well, there's only really one substantial gallery there--Kamakana Gallery--and he has a bin full of prints there last couple of times I've been there. All inkjets as I recall. I don't know how well they sell, there not being as much tourist trade on Moloka'i as on the other islands. I'd be surprised if he didn't also have some work at the Sheraton resort gift shop and maybe at the Big Wind Kite Shop, which also sells folk art, books, and other things. He had a piece in _Outdoor Photographer_ maybe a couple of issues back about cultivating aloha by giving away inkjet prints to locals on the island.

I'm planning on going over this year; I'm interested in Hawaiian artifacts, so I want to do some photo work there. I my day job I work for Kamehameha Schools. DeWitt mentioned to me that he had gone digital.
