Have you ever seen a black Kodak Medalist besides the one Dan Daniel recently posted?

Aside from Dans and the video clip of the military scene, I never have but Dan and I cant be the only ones who ever thought of a black Kodak Medalist. Have any of you ever seen one before. I would love to see one and then actually do it to mine. Mines not a virgin so I dont see the harm. and how did they anaodize the black helical so awesomely? I have seen a black Kodak Signet Air Force edition. Im assuming its anodized as well. Kodak Medalist , Air Force Edition!.

I have seen many Kodak Medalist cameras, but never a black one. Yes, the Signet 35's were black for the U.S.A. Signal Corps. I don't know if any other branch of the military used the Signet 35. For more than a few years I did all the mid-west camera shows, both buying and selling, and would figure that if there were a black Kodak Medalist out there one would have showed its face at one of those shows.

Maybe I will do it in photoshop first for inspiration. Im not very good at photo software though. I only have GIMP.

Wasn't the all-black Signet 35 for the USAF and the Signal Corps one were black and green?

Apart from that scene in that 1950s combat photography documentary I linked to in the other post, I've never seen an all black Medalist, except for Dan's custom one.
I say go for it!

Being used to photograph shore positions from warships, there would be no need to eliminate shiny chrome on a Medalist.
Speaking frankly, I seem to be spending half my hours searching for black hand remotes for a number of remote controls.
However, must admit that Dan's black Medalist does look sharp.

It does but he said he had problems with the coating. I would do it in catalyzed polyurethane semi gloss black. its imprevious to chemicals. Then use white lacquer to fill the engravings. I would dissolve the old paint out of the engravings first. Maybe an airbrush. Not sure.

You could be right. I do remember a picture of the Signal Corps Signet 35 and it did seem to be a greenish black color. I honestly didn't know that the Air Force even used the Signet 35. Just shows how much I know. Or maybe forgot????

The Signal Corps Signet was more green than black, the Combat Graphics was green as I recall. I don't recall seeing a black metalist, the 2 that photographer I worked part time for in the 60s were sliver. The Leicas, we used in the Air Force in the 70s were sliver, I've seen both sliver and black Nikon Fs. When in the field we could tape the Leica and silver Nikons with green or black tape. I think the Navy's Topcons were black.

The Combat Graphic 4x5 from WW2 was green, but remaining stock was painted black and sold on the civilian market.
The Combat Graflex 70mm camera from the Vietnam War period was green as well.
