Hassy mag: film not flat

I have a back A12 mag that doesn't hold the film totally flat, resulting in a "bleed" on the left edge of the negs. While I can't say (yet, anyway) that it affects sharpness, I'm wondering if there's anything I can do myself to fix it?

It may not be a unflat but it *MAY* be that you need new seals. Don't get the stuff on ebay. While good, the REAL stuff from Hassy is much cheaper. www.david-odess.com does a great job on CLA's on these. Try the seals first, its a good investment before you think you have a flatness issue.

When you load the film, are you feeding the backing paper under the long silver metal clip which pops open when the back key is turned? If not that would certainly cause an issue..otherwise, it or your camera may need servicing.

Forget the above, the photo does indeed look like a light leak which would indicate you need to put some new seals on the back

I have put an expired film in the back, loaded it correctly, wound to frame one and removed the darkslide. I can see that the film is not flat against the mask. Taking out the insert I can actually see that the pressure plate is not flat is relation to the rollers. The light seals look great both on the body and the back.

I was thinking there might be a way to increase the pressure on the plate or similar?

Considering where you live, why not let Papa Hasselblad fix it ?

They have the jigs and stuff to make sure it's correct.
