Hassey T-Mount Lens Query: Only CZ's?

Being brand new to MF and having acquired a "new to me" 503CXi with the requisite CZ 80/2.8 lens I am curious.

Are there any "third party" lenses that fit Hassey T-mounts? Or are the CZ lenses the totality?

Haven't seen an adaptable lens for MF in over 25 yrs in the trade----Except for the arax? 30mm.
Which then begs the question. Why? If you bought the 'blad for the quality, why would you want to put a brand X lens on it.

The closest is the "Classic" line of Carl Zeiss lenses for the "V" series that doesn't have Hasselblad re-branding....

I understand where you are coming from. On the 35mm side I am a "strict" Nikonian and with only one or two exceptions (e.g. an old Vivitar zoom) do not use 3rd Party lenses on my Nikon gear.

But being new to the Hassey world - I just want to know for sure what the "universe" of compatible gear (if any) is. Helps with eBay etc. searches.

I have adapted ("Hacked") several high quality LF lenses to my Hassy. These included a 150mm f9 Rodenstock Apo Ronar, A 180mm f9 Apo Fujinon and a 300mm f9 Apo Ronar. I used Bellows/Hassy extension tube combinations.

Hi George,

As Tom has indicated, probably the easiest way to use any other lenses would be with Hassy Bellows and Extension tubes. With adapters to fit these, you should be able to mount all kinds of large format, enlarging, and macro lenses, as well as other medium format lenses. You may want to mount enlarging and macro lenses into a large format #0 or #1 LF shutter before mounting them on the Hassy Bellows. Mounted this way the lenses will not couple with the camera except as stopped down? Through the lens metering would be possible with a metering head for the Hassy. Be aware, that with these combinations do not expect in most instances to be able to focus to infinity. It would require testing to see the extent of the focusing and magnification.

With Hasselblad - as was mentioned before - only wy to use other lenses would be to "hack" them on - you won't find purpose built like tyhwy way you can get a Tamron, Tokina or Sigma 3rd party. Thr difficulty being that the shutter assembly is in the lens (this is also the reason for the lower top shutter speed, BTW).

Hasselblad made a number of focal plane shutter based cameras that took barrell (w/o leaf shutter) lenses - 1000f adn 1600f, and I think a 2000f series. They had their own lenses, but also a line of Russian lenses are still being made that supposedly fits on one of those, but they won't work on your camera.

Hasselblad has been more or less compatible over the last 50 years - so if you can find lenses compatible with the 500 series cameras of a variety of ages, and prices (and of course degrees of use). The C series lenses are getting hard to find spare parts for so a CLA/repair on those is more expensive tham more modern lenses.

Hope that helps. I also picke dup a book called "The Hasselblad Compendium" - it was published in 97-99 sometime (forget) but details just about everything 500 series. Missing out on the very latest stuff, but has just about all the lenses and accesories made (Compendiums might have error in them, this included, but for the most part is is accurate).

Folks, the T-mount is M42x0.75 with 55 mm flange-to-film distance. Hasselblad "C" flange-to-film distance is 74.90 mm. That's why there are no T-mount adapters for Hasseblad.

It may be possible to take a long focal length lens in T-mount, not a tele, but one of those monsters with an achromat doublet at the front and no other glass, and hack the rear of its barrel to work on a 'blad, but I think the idea is pretty dumb.
