Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone has tried any tilt-shift solutions (whether this is Canon tilt-shift lenses or using technical cameras) that works well with the X2D system? And maybe how this would compare to using an 8x10" analog view camera (both in use and end result)?

Cheers
Peter

On a different forum there was some whining that the combination of shift and the phase sensors for the Autofocus on the 100 MP sensor yields some unfortunate lines in the file...and a bunch of software development went into correcting that.

I use the CFV-100 rather than the X2D in conjunction with view cameras and field cameras - if you are going to go after that, the CFV detachable backs are far superior - you'll quickly run into vignetting from the lens flange if you try any rear movements with a digital camera body meant for lens attachment -= I never tried with an X2D but I worked with this a lot with a Canon 5DS and the combination of the vignetting and the fact that the body depth itself makes anything sorter than about a 90mm lens very impractical led me to working with detachable backs - Hasselblad, Phase One and Leaf.

The 100MP back is supposed to be better for shifting because it is BSI so you don't need to worry so much about LCC profiles for stitched shots - but it has this reported problem with lines when shifted (not seen if lens is on axis with the sensor).

A 100MP or better back, from a resolution/enlargement standpoint, is equivalent to an 8x10 camera for sure. A STITCHED image made up of multiple 100MP images could be enlarged to an absolutely ridiculous level. ]Film purists WILL hate you (this from experience) but it's true...
