Hi all! Grateful for any help anyone can offer here. I have a Hasselblad SWC/M that I love. I want to start trying out a flash with it. I've realized, however, that it seems to be missing a piece that CF lenses are supposed to have, evidently to help hold in the PC sync cable connecter. It's the little collar with a hexagon-shaped opening that you see here:

Mine is missing that collar:

It looks like the collar might screw on to the exposed threads. Is that right? If so, do I have any chance of finding one of these collars somewhere? Could I conceivably unscrew the collar from another CF lens and use it on the SWC/M lens?

Thanks much!

Isn't that just a protective cap that sits on the x sync contact when it's not in use? A normal x sync cable just goes into the connector and doesn't lock in any way. It's a friction fit. I suspect that your missing item is only a cosmetic issue.

Hmmm. Are you suggesting that the "cap" may be removed when you're ready to put the cable in? I have a different CF lens that does have the collar with the hexagon-shaped opening, and it doesn't readily come off. I couldn't get it off at all. But maybe you're right that the absence of the collar shouldn't have a significant functional effect. It does seems to me that the collar may be meant to protect the PC connector from wriggling around and possibly breaking off or otherwise damaging the camera while in use.

FWIW, for a bit more context, I read this on the Paramount Cords FAQ (https://paramountcords.com/about/faq/):

The pc port collar broke off. It is functional as it has an o-ring, or the like, that helps keep the pc cord from pulling off the port. It’s not totally necessary, though, if the cord end is well crimped.

Given that it’s a small part, and one that was subsequently updated, finding a spare may be quite a challenge. I’d call around the folks who overhaul Hasselblad gear and ask if they might have one.
